There has been tension between my son and I lately. I wrote him a letter telling him to be happy with his life. I explained why I am having a hard time with him leaving. It seems he understands, and we have started again, with a new understanding. I'll miss him, but he is only going to be 10 minutes away from here. His girlfriend makes him happy and I want only the best for him.

I hope all goes well with his move. And for you. It is hard letting go... T

I have the same problems with separation from my son. Three years ago my son went to live with my parents. My son has Asperger's Syndrome and OCD; his sister, school and I were causing an elevation in his condition. The only option for my son was to let him live with my parents who have the ability to give him the needed quiet and routine. Plus they live on a lake and have ten acres so he can be by himself when he needs to be. He is now 15 and I miss him all of the time. He does come to stay with me as much as his school and appointments permit. Plus I try to visit him at least once a month. It is still hard to leave him there or take him back. I know he is happier with my parents so I am trying to do what is best for him but as a mom it is so hard to let our kids go.

Thanks frbnkslady, I am sure I'll be fine with his move, after awhile.

Network_Minx, I can't imagine having to let go of my child at such a young age. You must be a very strong lady.
