Just a Thought

In my blog Drama I shared with you a few things on how my ex used to beat down my self-esteem. I ran across this quote today that makes a lot of sense.

Inspirational Thought:

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.

-- Eleanor Roosevelt

That is RIGHT and no one can hurt or have an effect on you unless you let them do so because you are in control of youself.

It is a great quote, from a powerful, intellegent woman. And a nice list from ~sweet~ as well. I'll add just one more that I repeat to myself every morning when I wake up. I'm very sorry to say I've never known who said it first, but I've always loved it...

We live the life we choose.

I suppose I always knew that, but never thought about it. No matter how low someones self-esteem is, if they beat down others it can only be bothersome if the person being beat down lets them. I let my ex beat me down. If I knew then what I know now, it never would have happened. I probably would have done whatever I could have to build his self-esteem as he tried to beat mine down.

That's also a good point to bring up.

I love that and it is so very true! I have these quotes stenciled on the mirror in my bedroom:

"The greatest thing in the world is to know how to belong to oneself" ----- Montaigne

"Stand tall, and the world will rise up around you" --Anonymous

"The better life cannot be imposed from without -- it must grow from within." -----Mrs. Humphrey Ward

You are the vision of strength and beauty.....stay strong!!~Sweet~
It's awesome to keep inspiring words around to remind us each day of the important things.

This is completely in line with my own controversial ideas concerning victimhood so I give it a humungous and lengthy applause.

This battering of the self esteem idea seems to be falling into my path a lot lately here. The area of self esteem seems to be vitally crucial in all of the relationship and sex stuff.

It is my own previously destroyed but mostly now repaired self esteem that I am now seeking to hone and polish here at this place and my expericne here so far has done me wonders in that regard.

I wonder if all that are "perpetating crimes against the self esteem of others" always realize what they are doing. Or if the "victims" are always so good at letting these perpetrators know what they are doing.

It just bugs the crap out of me when I discover that my words or actions may have done such a thing to others and it's the farthest thing from what I would want. And I wonder if Iv'e ever done it to someone only they never let me know that this is how it affected them.

I sure hope there has not been much or any of that.

For me personally there is nothing that can suck the wind out of a sexy or romantic situation quicker than having something come about that tugs negatively at your sense of self esteem.

Hey Diva, did you get my last message?

That is so true. I used to hear that a lot when I worked with a drama filled co-worker.

I met with a man once who liked things his way. He started off kissing me hard, and when I responded the way way, he later criticized the way I kissed him.

He also thought he had to control every minute of our time together. If he wanted to smoke, he did. If I went to light up, he stopped me. I did let him know that not everything needs to go his way. I also added he was pretty selfish. We don't talk anymore, but I am not offended by it.
