Christmas Day

Six fifteen in the morning my youngest daughter joined me in bed. "Mommy," she said, "Santa came, and SOMEONE got a BIKE!!!!"

"Really, baby? Who's the bike for?"

"I don't know I could not see who it was given to."

"Oh, I guess we should get up and finish wrapping your brothers presents and then call him and tell him to come over. What time is it anyway?"

"6 : 15"

Stretching and yawning. "Okay baby, go wake up your sister and have her help with wrapping bubbies presents."

We go into the living room and she takes another peek at the Mongoose Hoop-D and says, "I still can't find the tag for it Mommy."

"Mmmmm, look under the big bow on the seat."

Jumping up and down chanting, "IT'S FOR ME. IT'S FOR ME! IT'S FOR ME!"

Smiling, I say, "Let's get your brothers presents wrapped. Did you call him?"

"Yes, he will be over in a few minutes."

"OH! We need to hurry then."

We barely finish wrapping my sons gifts and he and his girlfriend show up.

I sit in my chair as I watch the expressions on my childrens faces as they unwrap their gifts. Now and then they bring gifts over for me to unwrap. All in all it was a great day. The children were happy with their new gifts.

My youngest daughter plays with her new PS2 with the wireless remotes and the new game she got for it. My oldest daughter goes in her room for a movie marathon. My son and his girlfriend go because they have to go to her grandparents house. They agree to come back to turkey and ham later. I begin to read blogs and do a bit of chatting with those who happen to be online.

My best friend comes over and we visit for a bit till her sister calls her and summons her over to her parents house to open up the presents in the stockings.

My son calls and asks if I want to join him and his girlfriend and her family for some tamales, beens and rice. I told him I'd be there after I shower. In about an hour and a half I join them, and visit for a little bit.

I left to take gifts to my sisters house and then return home. The kids are still playing and watching movies. I do some blogging.

I get the turkey put in kind of late, and so we are going to have a late late dinner. My son calls and asks if his girlfriends mom and aunt can come over too. Like he has to ask. They get here and we are visiting and having a great time. Then her mom's husband comes over. Drunk as hell.

"Where's the keys bitch?" Looking at me he said, "Sorry, Dusty, but I stole your truck to get here." Apparantly my son left my keys in my truck when he left the grandparents home. "Where's the fuckin keys BITCH?"

Checking her pockets, my sons girlfriends mom said she didn't have them. She tells him that they must be in the car. He turns around and leaves. He tears out of my driveway rip roaring, spinning the tires, RPM's racing. My sons girlfriend comes out and says, "He's crazy, he's spinning brodies and shit."

Her mother says, "I am so sorry. I think I'll go get something to eat." It was not long after that I came into the house and hugged her. "I am glad you came over." I told her. I was truly sincere that she was here.

Within the half hour he came back and said that he outran the cops a few times. He made some smart ass remarks to her and my son and his girlfriend decided it was time to go. I talked the drunk out of the keys. "Why don't you give the keys to my son. He'll drive you home." With a little resistance he did. At least I know they will be safe getting home.

For the most part, the day was wonderful.

See? Take the expectations outta things and see how well they turn out? (except for the drunk, and he served his purpose as well, allowing you to console the embarrassed woman. She will not forget that, sweetie, you made a friend there.) Wishing you the best, your friend always.

kyplowboy22 she has always been a friend. Even when my son and his girlfriend broke up the first time. I was just so shocked. The last time he started crap with her, at my house, I said something to him. But he has never EVER called her a bitch in front of me.

I'm just glad it didn't escalate to something worse. Drunks are no fun especially mouthy ones. I'm glad you were able to comfort your son's girlfriends mother...good thing she was with you.

~~~ Just me, poppin to say HI! ~~
slidein2meplz she has no problem taking care of herself. She kept her mouth shut out of respect for me. It would not have escalated into more, because I would not have allowed it. Neither would my son. Even in his drunken stupor, I am sure he would not have done anything violent. But, one never knows.
BigGirlzRSweet she was definitly embarrassed. Since my son lives next door to them, with his girlfriend, he says he sees it all the time when they are drinking. He thinks nothing of it. I avoid drama at all costs and it was pretty upsetting to me.
