Changing to a positive attitude

My blogs have been gloomy and bitchy since my father died. I definitely need to change my thoughts back to the happy-go-dusty I normally am.

So, here is the first attempt at reaching under my recently bitter attitude and finding that happiness I am known for.

I have made a serious decision about my education and I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted off my shoulder. I am taking at least a month off from my schooling. I may wait as long as January before I return. I am also going to switch universities. Part of my frustration comes from the accelerated learning that comes from the University of Phoenix. Taking one class at a time is appealing to me, but learning 10 weeks of information in 5 weeks leaves me sleep deprived.

If I choose to start taking classes through Northern Arizona University, I'll be taking more than one class at a time, but I'll have a full semester to complete my classes. I might end up with more than two hours of sleep a night. Not to mention the classes are cheaper and I won't be so far in debt when I graduate.

This is a life change that will help me with changing my attitude. Yes, I know I am going to have my moments for awhile as I mourn my fathers death, but I need to put happiness back into my life. I feel I will be successful at finding happiness again after I learn to manage my time better, and if eliminating some of my time restraints to organize myself is what I need to do, it's done.

I haven't found your postings to be particularly "gloomy" or "bithcy" lately. In fact, I think your spirits have seemed quite high, given all that's happened to you.

The last time I went to school, I took a semester off, not of my own choosing but because I had a professor who was quite possibly the stupidest human being ever to have "PhD" after his name, and his inability to teach cost me an entire semester. It turned out to be a good thing for me, although it didn't seem like it at the time.

I know that whatever you decide will work out for the best. Good luck to you.

PillsburyCodeBoy Thanks for letting me know that my spirits have been high considering my unfortunate turn of events.

I think taking a break from my education is something I really need to do.

CaboWaboVHnut You still make me smile. Tonight has been really hard for me. I went to karaoke and sang a few songs. I wanted to sing Grandpa by the Judds, and I did, and I lost it bad in the middle of the song. I cried on my sons shoulder tonight. He is such a strong man for only being 18. I am grateful for having such a great son. Keep making me smile you crazy nut!

CRAZY NUT ???? I thought I was a DAMNED NUT !!! Make up your mind, u silly DUST BUNNY !!! Dusty, when I lost my dad, it certainly took a long time to feel better again, but I made it thru. The emotions, as I said in an earlier post, are something to embrace, not avoid. However, it's not always easy to embrace them. Just think of your dad whenever they come up, his Spirit will give you strength !!! After some time passes, you may start to think they are going away, then, suddenly, you'll hear a song, a phrase, or a voice that will bring it all rushing back to overwhelm you. About 8 months after dad passed, I was driving along when the song "Lightening Crashes" by the band LIVE came on, and I just lost it !!! I was driving, singing, and crying as I drove. Afterwards, I felt better, lighter in some way. That was 10 years ago. Just recently, I heard Tim McGraw's "Live Like You Were Dying" on the radio. I had sang along to it many times, but, this time when it got to the line about going fishing and said "I went 3 times that year I lost my dad, Man ! I just broke down !!! So you see, it'll take time, but he'll never truly leave you, and will give u strength when u need it most !!! Now, young lady, let me also remind u, you can always call on us !!! And to quote one of my favorite lines from a Sammy Hagar song, "We are strong when we believe !!!" If u get a chance, borrow, or get hold of VanHalen's cd set "Live: Right Here, Right Now", and listen to Sammy's acoustic version of "Give To Live", awesome message !!! Peace !!! Cabo !!! P.S. I almost forgot !!! "MUST MAKE DIVA LAUGH" !!! O.K., ready for some bad jokes ??? Here goes !!! Two bananas are in an old ladies home, the big banana looks at the little one and says "Too bad, they'll probably eat you !!!" O.K. Dusty, are u off the floor and back in your seat? Hang on, here we go again !!! If you have a big green ball in your left hand, and another one in your right hand, what do u have ??? The Jolly Green Giant in one hell of a fix !!! Alright, have u cleaned all of the drink up that u spewed thru your nose onto the keyboard ??? Good !!! Last one ! What do we call gay people in the South ? "HOMOSEX-YOUALL" !!! Later !!! Cabo !!!
