Anxiety

Do you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks?

What triggers them?

What do you do to control them?

I did for awhile, but not so much anymore. I had to learn to let go of a lot of "stuff". Nothing in particular ever seemed to trigger them, they would just happen at the most inconvenient times.

But the most immediate relief comes with deep breathing and grounding and centering yourself. Sit quietly, take long, slow deep breaths, close your eyes, and turn your attention inward. Pay attention to the breath, how it feels, how deeply you can breathe. Become aware of your feet planted firmly on the ground, and your butt planted firmly in the chair. Imagine a strong, silver cord that starts in the center of your head, then runs down your spine, through the chair, the floor, and into the ground, down to the center of the Earth.

What this does is take the nervous energy from the panic attack and releases it into the Earth. Once you've done this a few times, you will actually be able to feel the Earth's energy in the soles of your feet and travelling up your legs. It's a really cool experience.

Hope this helps. Massage therapists have all kinds of neat relaxation techniques to share. Find a good one in your area.

Thanks! I will be trying your suggestion.

I never used to suffer from them. It started about five years ago, I was taking some diet pills that had ephedra in them. I didn't know about the dangers of ephedra then. One late night I was watching Ricki Lake and she was doing a show on what ephedra can do to a persons body. I had about 15 panic attacks that night. The attacks continued strongly for awhile. Recently, they have become almost a daily thing. I hate them.
