Remember, Remember

The dark, nearly black sky and the blistering cold winds that torture exposed skin means it's going to be a great night.

The woody scent of smoky bonfires and the chemical stench gunpowder fills the night air. In the distance large explosions can be heard and the sky changes colour for a split second.

Getting closer, there is a sense of anticipation. Everyone is cheerful, chattering and smiling.

Lovely heartlifting post, dranba. From my 'eagles nest' bedroom I can see across the Thames Valley. November 5th, New Year and thunderstorms are truly memorable. I always think that November 5th is a watershed in the year as it's usually the first night I go out and it's c-c-c-coldddddd!!!! So I wrap up. That and the fireworks, and the crowded pub on Blackheath afterwards. So nice! And all to commemorate our first major act of terrorism. What irony! warm xx
