New to Alexandria

So, though I've only moved from Vienna, not that far, I have no idea what there is to do in Alexandria. Can someone please help me out? All I know is Rocket Grill has karaoke 7 nights a week (which may be the only place you'll ever see me 'cause I do love karaoke!).

Well, later this spring and during the summer, there are Potomac Nationals baseball games (minor league baseball) not too far from Alexandria. I'd be more than happy to take you to a game and see where things go.

The Rocket Grill is pretty cool. If you like Irish Pubs, there's Murphy's. If you like C&W Bars theres Nick's. Be glad to help you explore some of those.

Alexandria is a pretty wide area with a lot to offer, but it all depends on your taste. I am actually moving to Alexandria in a few weeks after a year of living on Capitol Hill.
I'm sorry this is kind of a long list... I just got on a roll:

OLD TOWN neighborhood

Fish Market
- Decent seafood place w/ live music upstairs on Fri/Sat nights.

Pop's Old Fashion Ice Cream
- next door to Fish Market... for something cold and sweet.

Bugsy's Sports Bar
- A rarity in the DC area... a hockey focused sports bar... just in case that is where your tastes lie. A real fun, relaxed place.

King Street Blues
- great BBQ

Bilbo Baggins
- eclectic "global" menu with great beer/wine selection

Il Porto
- very quaint, old-school Italian restaurant. My favorite is their Raviolini alla Panna.

DEL RAY neighborhood

Evening Star Cafe
- possibly my favorite local restaurant. There is usually a wait... but that is a blessing because you get to hang out at one of their two comfortable and friendly back bars.

Caboose Cafe & Bakery
- great place to enjoy a cup, relax and people watch.

The Dairy Godmother
- This place is drool-tastic. Custard, ice cream, cakes and other treats. A true community gathering place.

- a very hip cheese shop.

ARLANDRIA - neighborhood

The Birchmere
- One of my all-time favorite music venues. If you like singer-songwriters... you'll LOVE this place. I don't particularly like the food, but RT's is right across the street.

RT's Restaurant
- great Creole and Cajun food. Nice wait staff. I recommend the Catfish Fingers as an appetizer.
