Tonight I had Jack Daniels Poured Down My Throat...

... By the lead singer!

OK, same band as last Friday: Dirty Deeds. This time, I dragged one of my married buddies out, and I made sure he stayed out way to late. But, since I'm a bud, I did make certain to pull him up to the stage, next to the stack of amps, just to assure that when his wife reprimanded him, he'd be unable to hear until at least Sunday afternoon.

Dirty Deeds is, of course, the AC/DC tribute band. They played tonight at the Hard Rock Cafe at Foxwoods casino. The lead singer and guitarist are renowned for spending as much time roaming around an ON the bar as they do on stage. A bottle of Tequila and a bottle of Jack are walked around the bar and poured into waiting mouths. I was lucky enough to get hit on both rounds. Free shots. Works for me

On the way home, I took a detour to a town called Ledyard. It's basically many miles of fields, trees and twisting roads. Ledyard also hosts the family home of my first true love. We'll call her Sue. I used to know my way to that house as well as to my own. Tonight, I wondered. Sue is long gone. But the house would still be there, somewhere amid that eternal blackness of Connecticut wasteland under the slightest sliver of spring moon. I swerved many a time, barely missing one black cat, one feeding possum, one scurrying skunk and yes, a headlights-frozen dear. But, to my disappointment, I could not find the route to her house. It's been 20 years, but I would have thought....

Great White guided me home;

Give me the night
It's more forgiving
Hold back the light from my eyes
Please stay
Invisible darkness
Can't see the tears I cry
I know it's comin
Loaded with nuthin
Trapped in a tunnel of time
I don't wanna Face The Day....

Ah, Its you again, Your Angel Feathers and your Blood Stains...

Thank you for the Great White song. I'm feeling just like that lately.

How do you feel today? I could cum to Ct after work and pamper you, my Doc. I make a mean bacon & butter sandwich with pickles on rye!

docdirk replies on 4/29/2006 10:19 pm:
I felt great today... until I read that recipe of yours! You can take that sandwich and, in the words of Jack Russell - Stick It!!!

Oh Lord, bacon and butter with pickles....I ain't even got a hangover and that one makes me a lil queasy. lol Greasy chili. Thats the cure. Has all that rainbow lookin' juice floating on the top, just kinda slides down your throat. Ummmm, and buttermilk to chase it down with. Have you big bowl of chili with a couple of those snadwiches and a big glass of warm, clabbered buttermilk and you'll be fine, JJ. lmao

What the hell is wrong with you people??? Are you getting these recipes from human cookbooks??? Thanks for the advice, KPB, but I think I'll stick with the ole aspirin and plenty o' water cure!

NOW you've got yourself a deal, my Kaleidoscopic friend!! A little H&O is always a good call. But, to be fair, I think we'll need to swap off on who plays who from night to night. I promise to disinfect the fake John Oates 'stache when my night's over!!!

Remembering the past and trying to find your way back to it, often results in failure.

Your late-night excursion through the countryside of your youth, tells that tale to be true.

The present and future "roads" to be traveled, are the ones to look forward to...especially now that all you have to do is put in the start and finish addresses...and hit find, on MapQuest..!

docdirk replies on 4/29/2006 10:26 pm:
I'm a man, dammit... I don't ask for directions, not even from Mapquest!!! And, if I can ever find my home again, I'm gonna fire off an e-mail telling you just as much!!!

After having whiskey poured down your throat..I'm surprised you could drive at all. What is they say about drinking and driving..huh? Glad you had a good time though. I had no idea that people from CT were that wild.

docdirk replies on 4/30/2006 4:38 pm:
No worries, Kiss. I was there for quite some time after the Jack. I'm sure I was fairly OK to drive! (Besides, on the roads I took, only the animal population was in any danger!)

Oh yeah, we rock here in CT. You should give us a try sometime!

Man get lost one time, and they are all over your ass!

I go by this, I'm never lost, I'm just sometimes not exactly where I want to be.

Upon further review, I'm certain that I was in the right place, but the house had been moved elsewhere. It happens... right???

Well, at least you didn't kill any ferrets!

docdirk replies on 4/30/2006 4:40 pm:
No ferrets!! Their population seems to be a bit on the low side as of late. Wonder why...
