The Worst Thing Ever - Part I

During the course of conversation at this past weekend's CT Blogger's picnic, the topic of Worst-First-Date-Movie came up. Since I'm basically a selfish, uncaring jerk, I can't remember anyone else's choice!

But I do remember mine: Autumn in New York. Richard Gere. Winona Ryder. I think she dies. I know they were both irritating and completely unlikable. What made matters worse is that I had to pretend to like it. My date was in town for that week only, and I'd never have another chance to have sex with her again.

So, there I sat watching that crap with a smile on my face when in reality, I'd rather have been ejaculating razor blades!

That's my worst ever First-Date-Movie. What's yours?

Ah, Its you again, Your Angel Feathers and your Blood Stains...

It is Munich and while I never saw it, I know a guy who saw it and loved it. Maybe it's just not a good movie for a girl? I don't know...

As for my worst 1st date movie... ummm.... I can't think of one. I just know that its not a good idea to see a movie on a first date because you have no opportunity to talk and get to know each other.

I do remember the movie you're talking about, though. She does die! And leave him a watch for some reason. What I remember most about this movie is she made those art pieces with glass that she had hanging around her room. LOVED that. I remember, also, that the sex scene was gross seeing as he was old enough to be her dad (and hadn't he had a thing with her mother who had killed herself or something?!) and they tried for the "artist" approach by centering them in a window and it was a steamy window and when it was time to "finish" they were gripping the window pane instead of -- oh, I don't know ... say each other!!!!

I saw Brokeback Mountain this past weekend. I think that would've made a bad-first-date movie, as well.

Yeah, I'm thinking Brokeback... bad first date movie! (Unless you're dating a sheep! )

Here's one for you Doc....Battlefield Earth. We were at the movies and I had two kids talking behind me at the start of the movie. I got so pissed because both me and my date had waited paitently for this movie to come out that I yelled at the little pricks to shut the hell up or I would have them thrown out.

The movie was so piss poor bad that at the end I apologized to the kids and gave them $15 to go see another movie!

docdirk replies on 7/11/2006 5:40 pm:
LOL!!! Lucky they didn't pull out an Uzi and shoot the movie screen... and then you!!!

Battlefield Earth is one of those rare movies whose reviews were SO bad that I never bothered to see it... even out of curiosity.

Oh it's actually a fine movie, but it's just lousy for a first date if you're thinking about getting laid.

What else would one be thinking about on a first date?

Uh...Wall Street. It wasn't that the movie was bad, per se, but it's a complicated movie so checking out to make out is rather problematic...

"Greed is good!"

You should have been entitled to the movie and the make out for the price of the tickets... in a capatalistic sense!

I can't think of a worse first date movie. I'll come back to that question.

I'm too busy chuckling over you'd rather be "ejaculating razor blades."

It's likely that a character in my book will think that thought for which I thank you now in advance! You are my hero.

Now, my question: Have you ever had a bad ejaculate?

Oh, okay, worse first date movie with an adulterer: Fatal Obsession.

You're entirely welcome! After all, I do love those royalties!!!

BTW; Fatal Obsession??? Never heard of it, but at first uttering, it doesn't sound like a "date movie." Unless your date is Mike Tyson!

Oh, that's 'cuz the movie's actually "Fatal Attraction."

Fatal Obsession is what happens if you happen to be wearing that Calvin Klein perfume when you meet Glenn Close or Michael Douglas.

With Fatal Attraction, only your bunny dies.

Ah yes... the Boiling Bunny. Still, I'd rather hear that the bunny is in the crock-pot instead of "the rabbit died!!!"

Either way, an odd choice for a first date. Something about the whole "I won't be ignored" sentiment that says; even-though-it's-our-first-date-you'd-better-never-think-of-leaving-me-or-I'll-sharpen-machete. I'm glad to see that you made it through to the other side and can now have nightmares about it!

docdirk replies on 7/17/2006 5:30 pm:
Coming back? I'd forgotten it was ever here!!

Now then, where are those directions??
