I used to be famous, ya know

OK, just a liiittttllleee hyperbole there.

For two and a half years, I co-hosted a sports-talk radio show on a small, local radio station. The show was only on Monday nights from 5-7. A buddy of mine whom I have been friends with since high school actually had the gig first with another guy. I was a regular caller, and may I say, brilliant in the role.

As time passed, "other guy" got transfered in his real job, creating an opening that was quickly offered to me, and just as quickly accepted.

During those two and a half years, it was mostly my buddy and me bantering about whichever topic-Du-jour caught our attention. NFL was always #1. Here in CT, UConn Husky basketball (men & women's) was very popular. But we'd rant about baseball, NBA, golf, college football, boxing, local high school events and the local minor league baseball team.

Our biggest guests (IE call-ins) were from sports media mogul Ahmad Rashad, ESPN boxing commentator Teddy Atlas, boxing promoter and minor-league-baseball-team-owner Lou DiBella and various members of the WNBA's Connecticut Sun.

This past summer, the radio station changed formats. All talk was gone, all automated "oldies" were in. (They have a very popular FM sister station that makes all the cash - our AM station was always an afterthought.) Our callers and listeners contacted the station as best they could, but so far, there are no plans to change back.

Why do I mention this now? It's Monday, and I would just be getting home if I still had the show. Week in and week out, those 2 hours were always my favorite moments. Making a fool of myself is fun. Adding a live mic only amps it up.

I miss the show, the booth, the live remotes, the free tickets to sporting events, the media creds, the newspaper articles (OK article), etc.

I've nowhere to ham it up anymore. Well, except in Blog Land. But I can't take calls here!

Ah, Its you again, Your Angel Feathers and your Blood Stains...

You can take call-ins. Just tell me where to call.

They don't allow calls in my ex-radio-big-shot rehab facility!
