the travel gods are smiling
we arrived at the security check-point line on the 1st just in time to hear "final boarding call for ....". we cut to the front of the line, but still had to wait behind those in front, and run to the gate (and don't you just hate those loving couples strolling sedately side by side up the stairs, taking up just enough space so nobody can get past???). we got lucky they had not quite started pulling away yet, and the ticket lady called the plane the moment she saw us run around the corner. we got thoroughly scolded, and dozens of dirty looks, but made it. then we almost missed our second stop, as it was 40 gates away (well: we landed at B24, had to get to A22) and was boarding as we got off the first. So: one great reason to get in shape... as i seem to be making a habit of arriving at the airport with seconds to spare. Sprinting would be a great skill to have. lol.

Plane to Dulles (DC area), Greyhound to MD, car through DE, NJ, NY... now we're in CT. i'm trying to talk my cousin into a trip to NY. she loves shopping there... i just want to go to Tiffany's. (Have any of you seen the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's"? there's an song out... "you say we've got nothing in common. i say what about breakfast at tiffany's? i think we both kinda liked it". "well, that's one thing we've got" i might have the words wrong... but that's the reason i watched the film) there is a book out... a thousand places you should see in your lifetime... i *think* that is where i read "See NY... go to TIffany's. Buy something... even if it's just a keychain." i'm not sure i'd ever want to visit NY just for NY's sake. But if i'm in the area, i wouldn't mind stopping for that.

My cousin has all sorts of stuff planned. apparently she overplanned, but is paring things down to a more realistic schedule. tomorrow we're going for a fundraiser/charity picnic thing, and we're going on a corn-field maze scavenger hunt someday this weekend. i don't know what else is planned, but she promises we'll be busy.

What are your plans for Labor Day weekend? Hope it's filled with friends and loved ones, and not just getting ready for going-back-to-school! (or homework for those already started).

"'...go to TIffany's. Buy something... even if it's just a keychain.'"

Actually, it's a Voodooism, Some Things I Know, but I'm honored to be quoted anyway. Plimpton and Hepburn buy a sterling phone dial in the movie, but I don't think Tiffany's carries that particular item anymore.

While you're in the City, a fellow I know has this multi-media thing going on at 123 west 18th street, 4th floor. It's all about the time he spent on a mercy hospital ship off Africa. If you're like my notion of what kind of woman you are, it's something you'll enjoy. More info about it at mercynewyork dot com. I'm checking it out early tomorrow evening.

To find more cool non-touristy stuff to do, check out timeoutny with the usual domain suffix.

Have fun. Try not to touch anything on the subway.

This weekend, i have nothing planned except soaking in the sun and watching the busy bodies of traffic pass by as i sit on my porch.

voodooguru1 sorry i mis-referenced the quote. i just remembered i'd read it somewhere lol. and it seems a wonderful thing i am guessing, however, that i won't get to actually GO to NY this time... just drive thru. my aunt and uncle refuse to do any more than drive through.. and it's rude to expect my cousin to take ME shopping in NY and leave everybody else behind. I'll see what i can do, though... thanks for the suggestions

Hello...This post is to remind you about the Blogger's Convention scheduled October 21,22,23 and set for the ChicagoLand area(Bolingbrook--a suburb)

It is a chance for you to meet the folk that you have been reading, commenting, and chatting with. Before we go any further, this is NOT a giant sex orgy but a chance to interact with your new found blogging friends face-to-face.

The opening night festivities are still in the planning stage.(I need to have an actual head count on that before I can proceed and make commitments to the banquet facility. But in the plans are a Masked Ball--expected to be a lavish formal affair)

The 46 Zone Party will be held on the evening of the 22nd at the 46 Zone bar attached to the Ditka Dome(enclosed sports dome facility with an indoor driving range) Typically the bar has a live band on Saturday nights (no cover charge to date) The food and drink costs there are reasonable and one can imbibe for about twenty bucks.

There will be an "after" party on the 21st after the Masked Ball; and a "before" and "after" party on the 22nd in the hospitality suite at the hotel to continue on with the festivities. These parties will have food and alcohol/soft beverages and will be bought in bottle form with appetizer platters from local stores. The bar in the hospitality suite would be a serve yourself type of set-up.

The hotel is new and nicely furnished. Complimentary breakfasts are included with the room; the hotel has a pool, workout facility, complimentary wi-fi service, in-room coffee makers, mini refrigerators, iron & ironing board, and laptrays to support your laptops. There is a complimentary coffee bar located off the lobby area which is available 24 hours for a selection of coffees, teas, and hot chocolate. Hotel rates are reasonable and information can be found at Convention Information Pictures of the hotel and its rooms are also available for you to see.

In the works is a photo session opportunity as well as some classes/demos.

If you have not already done so, you are also invited to join bloggers of this friendly site The group was designed to address the technical aspects of blogging, but has metamorphosized into something much more--a "family" of bloggers...many of who will be attending the upcoming Convention.

Thank you for your time and I hope to meet you in person.

HMMM. I live in Ct & like having NYC nearby. Been to tiffanny's, never bought anything, but it's an intersting place to obseve people. More interesting however is the Museum of Modern Art or the Metropolitam Museum of art whicic is planted on the east sdge of Central park. Have you noticed how many people have "sex in the midle of Centreal Park" as one of their fantasies? Well When you're finished, you can go out the wets side & be at the Museum of Natural history & see cor magnons fighting off dinosaurs or at the same place, get a fantastic view of the stars in the Hayden Palnetarium, Now that would be quite an adventure, sex in the pstar show at the planetarium!
