Drops in the Abyss

Step off of the curb from the post office, the sky darkens and begins to look turbulent. The clouds are moving around in fast circles, not deciding where to go. They have no destination, but yet move with a quiet purpose. It begins to rain, light at first and then hard. Beating down on the buildings around like a war drum. The thunder like some ancient army moving about the sky, awaiting their prize.

I throw my hood up over my head and move slowly towards my car. People all about hurrying this way and that, trying to escape the down pour. Not me, I step with no speed letting the pure water soak into my soul, into my heart. I drive in my car and watch as the drops streak down the windshield, this way and that. Getting home I dont go inside, I move up my driveway and out onto the road. Once again, my feet carry me to an unknown destination. Deep in my own thoughts, yet of a blank mind, I travel through the neighborhood.

Avoiding no puddles, I feel the water soak into my shoes and my socks. I squish my toes about and smirk at the feeling of wet feet. Removing my hood, I look up at the sky and close my eyes. The feeling of water soaking my hair, running down my face, off the tip of my nose. I lick the moisture from my lips. A hungry feeling, not saited, I move on.

What is it about the rain that makes me feel so alive? The cool moist feeling on the salt of my skin? The clothes as they soak through and begin to lay heavy on my body? I run my hands through my wet hair, push the raindrops into my face, lick my lips yet again and sigh. Circling back, I move into my house and up the stairs.

Remove my wet clothes and toss them in the hamper. Grab a towel and wipe my naked body dry. Wrap it about my waist, grab a book, and climb down the stairs to my side porch. Open a few of the windows to let the noise of the quiet chaos outside drift in. Stretching out on the glider, I shift it slowly with my hips. Rocking it back and forth, swaying to and fro. The smooth motion and the dropping of water from the heavens calms my soul, quiets my thoughts. Laying the book on my bare chest I wrap my arms behind my head and drift off. Out of time, out of space. Into the deep of my mind. All that I hear is the drops in the Abyss outside. I feel saited, I feel warm, I feel alive.

I only like getting wet when the rain is warm...but I think that it is like being one with the rain...or the storm...it's a feeling of consciousness expansion...the intensifying of your physical senses awakens your mind somehow...

I love the rain. There is nothing better than laying in bed listening to the rain hitting the house and windows. I also love how the air smells just before the rain hits. Now lightning and thunder are another story. I was a basket case during Hurricane Rita but was out of my house the next day before it was even over wanting to explore

Very nice--you made it sound so peaceful that I want to go curl up adnd go to sleep. And I do mean that in a good way. Very hypnotic to read from your wonderful, detailed words.

Maybe the water wakes up your outer self and that wakes up the rest? Another great read, sweetie.

Humbled as always, and thank you. Always get very sleepy during the rain and have the best at that time as well. Would love to have sex in the rain too, that would be fun.

It would appear that next to you on the glider is quite a coveted spot, my dear. Hehe, lucky me!
