Hi everyone here is my weekend

I had a wonderful time this weekend camping with my Troop. We went to the Illinois Jamboree along with 4500 other scouts and scouters. Went to the Illinois game and baked on Saturday, since we were in the cheap seats with no shade. I had one of my sons along and there is simply no way to describe what a feeling that is. I miss them every day and time spent with the boys is as precious as air. Missed all your blogs (why do I feel guilty if I dont read them when you post them) and while I am happy to be home (the land of the clean sheets and showers) I wish I were still sitting in the fresh air reading a good book with not a care in the world. Great therapy for whatever ails you.

Hi dano, thanks for stopping by my blog. Reading yours I see we share quite a few similar interests. History, travel, scuba etc. ect. I really respect your involvement with the scouts. I will be stopping by and would love to hear about your views on history, etc. I bet you even play chess.

Take care.

JDLA2 I can barely stumble my way through a game of chess but my 17 year old competes at the state level. My 22 year old is now working full time for the Scouts as a dive master in the Florida keys. BSA has a base in Isla Morada where they teach them how to sail or dive in the ocean. Oh yeah my 2 older guys are both Eagles and yes I am very proud of them. Scouts is just one of the ways I try to payback. My personal belief is we all owe a debt to society in general to try to make the world a better place than when we arrived. You dont have to save a baby from a raging fire but everything you do makes a difference to someone. Dan

I think I best stay away from your budding chess master. I actually don't find many people around anymore who know how to play. My whole family was into chess and it was sort of a blood sport when I was growing up.

I envy your dive master son. I have been toying with the idea of eventually buying a little dive operation in some out of the way part of the world someday. I even went down to Abergris caye, Belize to look at a little hotel/dive operation but my wife wasn't ready to go that native just yet, no paved roads, no cars, etc. I thought it was perfect.

I had been actually contemplating writting a post about the unforseen consequences of even the smallest personal action on world at large. Every action we take is in fact connected directly to the larger environment and effects the whole. Science is begining to demonstrate what many of us have always known but could not prove.

I have two other posts that I would like you to read. Rain from a clear sky, and Swimming with sharks.

Take care.

JDLA2 I will look them up. My first time with a shark was in the Caymans. Came over a reef and there she was, about 10' and so beautiful my breath stopped. I was not scared just amazed and she looked me over and swam away. Just perfect.
I think if every one tried to make a difference even in a small way the world would be such a better place.

Trav, We never talked about it but I think it is awesome your a dad. We need more guys who will remember their kids are not the womans problem but something to be cherished and raised to treat women and the world with respect. I will shoot you my tx offline and we will figure out your arrangements for Chi town.
