Ok, so, now I'll get to the story of "us". We're pretty lame....we're high school sweet hears. We met through a mutual friend. I was 16 and had just been dumped by my "best friend" throughout high school. My EXboy friend was also great friends with my now husband. My husband knew I was heart broken. He tried to "console" me at a dance. I danced with him cause he was nice and all...but by no means had any interest...HELL, I was still gonna get Mark back! That was Oct 31, 1987. I blew my husband off til Feb. 1988. We had been good friends during those few months. He'd been talking about who he was going to invite to his senior prom....I had a bit of jealousy and realized there were some feelings. I asked him if he wanted to do something on Valentine's Day. Apparently he understood what that meant. We rented some movies and ordered some pizza and hung out at his house.
At one point during the night, he was sitting on the floor in front of me (sitting on the couch)...I leaned down and kissed him. He now tells me that after he dropped me off at my house that night, he shouted with excitement all the way home.
He was a year older than me. He went off to school in upstate NY....I went up to visit him several times during that year apart...he came home for all breaks. Things continued. I, being the lamer of the two of us, went to college in the same town! We dated while at school...but saw other people, unbeknowst to either of us at the time! Thank God for that time though....taught us a lot about what we wanted in life!
He eventually left school to join the military and my school got rid of my major!!! Soooo, I came home and took classes at a local school knowing that we'd get married soon. Valentine's Day 1992 he proposed. We married that summer and he left on a 6 month deployment. When he returned, I moved to Va and continued school down there. I later got my Master's while he was still in. When he got out, we moved back "home" and he finished school and started his Master's while I put him through school.
Then, fast forward, 2 days after our 9th anniversary, our little peanut was born...14 months later, our sweet baby girl! Shortly after THAT, I realized my personality wasn't meant to stay home, shut off from society! During this time, communication opened up a lot between us. The search for the real "individuals" in our marriage began. We talked about things we'd both done while in school....things that peeked his interest in what I'd be willing to do still....
Fast forward 4 years....here we are....I'll save THAT chapter for tomorrow.

Wow, I've really enjoyed reading your last two posts. I don't have any insights or related stories myself... just wanted to say thanks for sharing. |
