Old Friends

I know that many of us don't manage to stay in better touch with old friends. I just went to a friend's family website (a friend from where we lived about 10 years ago). Checking through the last few months worth of pictures....it's apparently been a while since I checked them out. She's pregnant.....VERY pregnant! I didn't know! I'm willing to bet she's due in the next month she's so pregnant! What a bad friend I am!!!

Thus, came to realize, one of my former coworkers got married last June. We were all predicting that she'd be pregnant within a year or so. Talked to her in Dec. Still wasn't CLAIMING to be pregnant...don't think I've talked to her since.

Sooo, how many friends do you talk to regularly? Monthly? Weekly? Daily? How many others should you talk to regularly and don't?

I have a couple VERY close friends... though sadly I do NOT call or see them often enough... so ANOTHER bad friend here!

Phone: I have two really good friends that I call about once every two weeks.

Blogging: there are about four blog friends I check in on every day. Hell, I guess they are friends. They could be robots, though. Or identity thieves trying to get enough info on me to steal my credit. Or maybe even identity thieving robots!
(Suddenly Electric's paranoia passes without incident.)

See daily: there are a few neighbors out every morning. We wave, say "G'morning." About once a month I will get yappy with one of them. Trade stories or just gossip. When we had a winter ice storm that knocked out power for 5 days, we all got together and anything someone had that someone else needed went on loan, no questions asked! I was loaned an extra kerosene heater! Damn good neighborhood.

I tend to be a far better friend via email than anything else. Being home with two demanding kids, it's tough to talk on the phone during the day...then I generally work at night.

We lived in a nice close knit neighborhood til about a year ago....we'd go for daily walks or bike rides around the 'hood. We'd not go too far and spend a good couple hours talking to everyone. (Imagine this, I'm a social butterfly.) However, where we are now is more of a through road and not so much a neighborhood. HUGE adjustment for me. We're set far back from the road so safety of the kids is not really a concern, but man it stinks not being able to chit chat with everyone so easily! We do have a couple neighbors that we talk to on average once a week or so....but not quite the same!
