The Pregnant Sole Provider Changes Her Mind

AAHH pregnancy. A time to marvel at the miracle and mystery that is life and creation and...excuse me a minute while I lose my breakfast for the 4th time this week. And it's only Tuesday! What IS that smell?

You mommies know what I mean. Everything stinks. Literally. The smell of a musty towel, the smell of gasoline, carbon monoxide, paint thinner, King Pine...aaahhh. Anything noxious just smells SOOO wonderful and it gets rid of that blasted nausea!

Glowing=sweating!!

Well imagine all that and then some plus the stress of being the sole provider in a household that included my mom, my sister, her baby and sometimes her boyfriend. I made $8 an hour at the time. Enduring the perils of customer service when all I wanted to do was put up my feet, sniff some King Pine and eat fried green plantains (tostones for those who know).

I had recently bought a new car. I had to return it because it was either pay the car or provide for my family. My sister "couldn't" find a job. Her man worked when he felt like it and Mom had just retired. So I went from a brand new car to a really beat up Olds that creaked when it rolled.

The car is a story on it's own which I will tell soon.

So yeah that was me. Pregnant. Working. Providing. On my own. This was merely the beginning. This wouldn't be the last time I would have to do this.

Now the question on everyone's mind was, "What about the father?" My answer was, "Yeah what about him?" Men that were good fathers would tell me that I should tell him. Single moms would cry CHILD SUPPORT!!! Hell I still hadn't told a SOUL who the father was.

I didn't want to tell anyone because I was ashamed of having done this with such a young guy. I did not want to tell him because I felt that he wouldn't own up. One day my mother sat next to me crying, "What about the grandmother?" So I decided that I would tell him. Eventually. When I had the balls to do so.

How the hell was I going to tell him?

(to be cont'd)

Err...you'd tell him face to face and gently?

I don't have kids but that doesn't men I hate them. I just don't want them. I play with them, I have a good time with them, but when the day is done, they go away and I go on living my life.

I know that raising children is hard. I don't need to have one to know this. I've seen the struggles (just like yours Cute) and I just can't imagine the stress it must put on a person. I can see it, but unless I am in their shoes, I don't even try to sympathize.

I know your pregnancy wasn't planned, but I've heard of countless marriages end because 1 person was just not ready for the amount of work it takes. They just don't think even when they plan the pregnancy.

Waiting patiently for the next part......

woofff...this is just the beginning.

mexicano...I appreciate your view on kids. I was the same way. People think that the hardest part of having a baby is 2am feedings. HA! That, quite honestly, is the easy part.

Aahhh my little sister is pregnant at the moment. Losing meals and weight due to the sickness. With some eight weeks to go she's lost several stone in weight.
My sister complains that most smells make her feel ill, even chocolate.

Don't ever give up searching for the fun in life.

wow...just wow. For those of us who have never been pregnant or don't closely know anyone who has you educate well. I didn't know noxious smells were so good to a pregnant woman. So far this has been just a wonderful, heartfelt and true story that is well written and should be saved for later...perhaps for publishing. seriously. You have a unique talent and who knows...someday this could be your saving grace. Writers make good money for doing things most of us just don't know how to do. The heart, soul, experience and talent are all there...but we both know its just a matter of finding a marketable venue. These serials are great for you. You do them well.

kitchen...my sister lost weight while pregnant because she couldn't keep anything down for most of the pregnancy.

Nicky...thanks sweetie.

Ready...I guess I'm more patient than I thought.

Atomic...I'm just glad to finally be able to tell the whole story. Its a relief. Thanks for the ringing endorsement!
