I'm too old for ska....

It's sad but true. I was at the Ska is Dead 3 show in Hartford tonight, and I was just too damn old. Half the bands and virtually the entire crowd was (well) under 21. This was punctuated by the fact that the people standing in the back were the PARENTS of the kids attending the show. Excluding a couple of the bands and the staff @ the Webster, I'd say maybe a dozen (and that's generous) people were in my general age range. What I don't get is what happens to everyone when they grow up. Does everyone just stop going to shows and stop paying attention to your local scene? I mean dammit people! I'm not a huge ska fan but I still like to check out a show every now and then. (...and on a side note, what the hell happened to all the damn cute punk/ska/alternative/goth/whatever girls that clearly exist in the 16 to 19 year old age bracket? Do they all hit 21 and just vanish or something?)

Anyway, the show was pretty decent. It was good to get up and dance (SKANK!!!!!!). It had been a while.

The best band in my opinion was the Planet Smashers. They put on the best show of all the bands and go the crowd more into it than any other band (even Tip the Van, which was the band I actually went to the show for ). Alright, my ass is tired. I'm going to bed.

Only when I'm part of a group that has an average age that is easily 5 or 6 years younger than me.
