Age or bad music?

I feel like I'm getting old. I cashed in an amazon gift certificate for some CDs, and instead of going straight for new stuff, I started looking at "greatest hits" CDs. I ended up getting one new CD (System of a Down), two "greatest hits" (311, Soundgarden), and a CD released a few years ago by a band I'm starting to get into (Gorillaz). This combined with other "greatest hits" purchases over the past year (Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains) makes me feel like I'm getting old since I'm going back and buying the "best of" the music I was too lazy/poor/cheap to buy 10ish years ago. Does every generation feel this way, that the music of 10 years ago (whether that be the 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s) is was just so much better, or does today's music really just suck that much, and that the music of the 90s is really that much better of an option?

I had always wondered when your music becomes the "oldies". For me I know I go back and buy a lot of older stuff cuz it brings back memories and good times. But when I finally bought in public a Phil Collins greatest I knew it was over for me !!

Do you remember what it was about, they all seem to be accounted for. Maybe it returned magically?
