Wishing....

The path winds gently through the park, following the curves of the river. Balmy air of a lazy summer evening mutes the sounds and curls around them like strands of silk as they walk hand and hand down the pathway. Her shoes are in her hand, the flowing fabric of her skirt dancing around her legs as she walks, laughing softly up at him. He looks down at her, emotions heavy in his eyes before letting go of her hand to slide his arm around her shoulders and pull her close to him, pressing a kiss to her temple. They come to the boat ramp, where the river slows and laps against the docks....standing for a moment just looking out across the river towards the lights of the city. She looks up at him, speaking quietly as they move to lean side by side against the low concrete wall. A few moments of conversation...she smiles...he tucks a strand of hair behind her ear...his fingers linger to run idly through it. She turns her head and presses a kiss against his wrist. His hand trails gently down her cheek before dropping to catch her hips and pull her in front of him. For a moment, they freeze there...both knowing that the kiss is coming, but languishing for a minute in the anticipation before his head dips and she raises to meet his lips. And there it is...when her body goes soft beneath his touch, hands on his shoulders as she leans into him and gives over in that instant of surrender.

I was sitting in the park this evening watching this couple, my heart aching and remembering what it felt like to be loved and cherished that way. To have someones arms around me and know that, for that moment, I was his whole world.
I envy her. I miss that.

Toothysmile is right (as usual )

It will happen when you least expect it to.

Oh yeah...always seems to happen that way, doesn't it? The really good things come out of nowhere...just one day, there they are in front of you.

and you really don't have the foggiest idea what it is you're missing...

When my last relationship started, you weren't 14 yet. You may have had a very busy seven years since (and if you have, it will have skewed your perspectives even further), but you still lack perspective on how important those times are when they occur. Sometimes the kind of relationships you're talking about only appear decades apart.

And yes, I'm busy feeling sorry for myself these days....what else is new?

So just b/c you're old you feel that your insight is greater than hers?? What a crappy comment!

Yes there is nothing worse than having something like that shoved in your face at a point in time when you really have nobody.

Wait a minute. There is something worse.

It's when something like that is shoved straight in your face when you do have somebody who claims they love you but still never seems to have the time or interest in doing anything like that.

Yes, that is even more awful.

Now I'm sorry I even thought of it because it's making me feel that same way.

Can't just leave it like that though. May the forces of all creation bestow upon me a strong breath of inspired hope, vision and inner feeling and may they also do the same for Curious028385.

I hope that has some effect.

You want me to smack Smo for you? You write like someone much older than you are. Love for someone your age is so full of emotion that I know that you DO know what you're missing, otherwise you couldn't write this. It's lovely Curious. Makes me miss being in love too. Mac

I won't disagree about it being a crappy comment, but what you said is not what I said... major difference between insight and perspective.

six months is forever. six months is only a moment. if you're in it, and it doesn't feel good, forever isn't adaquete to describe the length..... but perspective helps it be survivable....

I understand that she's (I beg the hostess' pardon for speaking of her in the third person) hurting. hurt is an ongoing problem for all of us. memories torture us with images and feelings of better times. ambitions make false promises to us that reality never quite matches.

today is just a drop in the bucket. today is forever--unchanging, because what's now is the only thing that's real

beautifully written, curious082385.... You are never alone in feeling this way...just think how many of us in this world are feeling exactly the same way you do at that exact moment?! ~ the numbers will likely surprise you....

Like toothy and caress.. said -be patience...it will happen when it is least expected....

May the gentle breezes brush away your worries... May the sounds of the "river laps against the dock" swept you away to a world filled with love and warm comfort....

good night sweetie.... {{{{{gentle hugs}}}}}}}}}}}
