Will Update: Progress is made....

First, (with a burst of daughterly pride) may I first say that my mother is incredible? Well, she is.

Ok, for those of you who have been following Will's story...this is the update of what happened today.

He came in again today without his homework done...no one is mad at him....he got no help from his parents...something this particular assignment required. Mom and I had a long talk last night about what we should do. We are watching a little boy shut down and can't stand to let it continue.
So today, when his parents came to pick him up, Mom pulled them in for a quick parent-teacher conference. As I mentioned earlier ...the last time that we tried to confront his parents, they threatened to remove him from the school. Mom started to talk to them about helping him with his homework, getting him to school on time and attendance. As we had expected, his mom started to whine about no time, and being too busy and blah, blah, blah....I swear, the woman makes my stomach turn. pauses for a moment to count to ten and take deep breaths.
So, my mother, being the excellent tactician that she is, starts thinking of ways that our family could help....eventually stumbling (quite accidentally of course... ) upon the idea that perhaps Will should stay with us a few nights a week for the following logical reasons:
1) Saves his family on gas money to bring him in and out of town......greedy ba****ds jumped at that thought.
2) Would insure that he gets to school on time
3) We'd be able to tutor him (this worked wonders as they are of the firm belief that he is too stupid to even bother trying to help him learn).

So, by the end of the meeting it was decided........
HE'LL BE LIVING WITH US 3 NIGHTS A WEEK!!!!

thats awesome....your mom deserves the praise...thats terrible though...how the parents just jump at the oppertunity to get rid of him....those people dont deserve the kid if you ask me.... its people like that that just make you want to just deck them for being horrible people...Im sure this will help the poor kid alot...

(this original post was lost in a blogland wormhole)

I am still a little misty from this...the words are blurry.

You are an absolute angel. God Bless you and your parents.

...you might have some idea on how much impct this makes on Will's life, but you probably won't know until much later.

Don't lose faith..he might be a tough nut to crack.

Thank You for doing what you are doing...

Nightstalker - yes, my mother is a wonderful person...truly, a daughter could ask for no better role model. And as for decking Will's parents....go for it...as long as I can watch/join in. I'm just glad that he wasn't in the room to hear their words.

PK - lol, smothered is right...tomorrow is his first night staying with us and we told him that he gets to plan the dinner menu (even dessert) and we'll have whatever he wants. The look on his face was priceless.

Jim - once again I find myself humbled by your comments, although I'm no angel...just someone who cares too much to stand by and watch a child in pain. I have been lucky enough to be put in a position where I can help. I like to think that most people, given the opportunity, would do the same.

Hey babe - I wish there was someway to show them a pic of him (i know we can't, but still).....he is sooooo cute. I don't know how anybody could meet him and not fall head over heels in love. Big huge eyes and dimples that are just barely there when he smiles.
Whether you call yourself an angel or not, Z, he is lucky to have you in his life. You guys made a huge difference and have probably turned his whole life around.

That’s great news, well done to your mum she did so well not to have lost it with such uncaring parents. Guess LOL means lots of love from now on.

Guest - as always, thank you for your caring. There are many good people in the world, just that many, I think, become lost or blinded by the overwhelming lines of people in need...just help the one in front of you...you can't save them all, but you can make a difference to a few.

Scottyboy - yes, she is pretty incredible. The only reason I was able to keep my mouth shut was that I wasn't saying anything to them. If I had to speak...once my mouth had opened, who knows what would have come out.
