Stressing and venting....

A few weeks ago, I got a phone call from my cousins...they were looking for a roommate in the same town that I wanted to go to school in. Was all excited...it was perfect. We all get along, obviously already know each other and already had a few houses in mind. We were going to move in next week.

Got a phone call today from E (oldest, male) saying that it wasn't going to happen because he is trying to quit smoking (ciggys and pot), but A (younger girl) won't agree to not smoke around him. So he is just going to move in with his girlfriend and sorry...whole housing plan just fell through!!

I have to confirm my registration with the college by the end of the week and classes start on the 21st. So if I can't find a place to live by then, I'll have to settle for the Junior College here in town...but I have to register with them by the end of the week too if I'm going to go there. Not going to school this semester is not an option because we already told the insurance company that I was a full time student and therefore could be put back onto my parents medical insurance. I have to keep that insurance because I have several serious health issues that need to be dealt with very soon and are too expensive to do without insurance.
*pauses and tries not to rip hair out*

Plus, I have the friend I was writing about coming over this weekend. Another friend will be in town too and she is incredibly demanding about seeing me. Have to get down to DMV and argue some more with them about my car registration...probably end up paying them another 150 bucks too. And to top it all off, I'm still tired from Atlanta.

SD, how serious were you about the offer to move in with you??

1. Breathe
2. Start the registration process with the Jr College
3. Look for housing at the first choice college
4. Friends can take care of themselves, more or less
5. Sleep in tomorrow to get caught up (no phones, no interruptions)
6. Plot out strategy re: DMV and deal with it next week.

That's my best shot.

Yeah, I'm still [blog 1hotwahine]

I think, I would make all the housing offers bid for your company. Start with the rent - for free, then work on food, expenses, free car, travel, etc, etc.

What a way to go to college!!!

curious082385 replies on 8/11/2006 3:34 am:
That would be a great way to do it, but I don't think they are interested enough in my company for me to be able to pull that off.

It will work out... stay focused. Have you looked for roommate ads? Have you called the school about options... I know you said they didn't have room in the dorms... but they may have a list of things to help.

BTW, SD isn't the only option... we have some good school in NC... and you don't have to get nakey or rub anything. lol

curious082385 replies on 8/11/2006 3:39 am:
Yep, have done all of those things. I'm not all that worried about finding a place...I just don't like not having much time to look and make my decisions.

Wishing you luck in getting it all sorted out, sometimes it's a last minute thing and it all falls into place perfectly, hope that's the case for you

curious082385 replies on 8/11/2006 3:41 am:
That is pretty much what I am hoping too.
Thanks for the good wishes.

Good luck...junior college isn't the end of the world for a semester or two while you try to figure things out...in fact some community collegs are excellent and offer a lot smaller class size than larger universities. Also, some states have automatic transfer programs to four-year state schools if you do well, including offering some scholarships. I have a friend (also an English, actually poetry, major) who went to community college here in NoVA and then got accepted to William & Mary and offered lots of free $. So...research that option...

Take care.
