AnEnigma517: You have a right to know

I know that many of you are holding to your silence in honor of Todd today. I had planned on joining you, but given what I have learned tonight, I find myself unable to stay quiet.

It turns my stomach to even have to write this, but given the outpouring of emotion here in the last few days, I feel you all have a right to know.

As many have been speculating, Todd's death was a hoax.

I was talking with Dasher121 tonight as we both wandered through the blogs. After finding GoddessOfTheDawn's post about not finding any news reports and reading the speculations left in the comments, we started running our own search. Starting with just search engines and generic information...date, time and locations. We found nothing.

At this point, we remembered that several of Todd's e-mails to Dasher, he signed off with his full name. We started over, running his name through several search engines for articles about the accident. When the pop-up ad for one of those private eye sites, we took the oppurtunity, logged in and searched for him. We found him. The search pulled up his address, phone number and even information about his family members, including the sister he always spoke of.
But no where was there any mention of a death certificate.

For any who might wonder, we ran searches on our family members as well just to verify the validity of the site we were using and the extent of information available to us there. It pulled up a wealth of information on each of us and our families...all correct.

I hate the confirmation that our trust was breached, but as many have said, a lie is better then a death. There are many people here who are truly mourning his death and perhaps this knowledge can help put an end to that and help this community move on.

Our response to this was powerful and, if nothing else, going through this together should only solidify our belief in the support and love of this crazy little blog world. I only wish that Todd could have seen what he had, that if he needed our attention and love...all he had to do was ask for it and it would have been there in endless amounts for him.

You know, I'm not mad as much as I am extremely sorry for him, if he needs to pull this kind of thing to get attention...

Gee, no brother who sounds exactly like him was listed? Just a sister?

The whole situation is sad. I'm hoping that there aren't new members/bloggers who have been driven away by what has happened this week.

I know that our little blogland family will pull together and everyone will heal, although I greive for those who will hold a little more cynicism now. But this is behind us and it is time to move on.

GOTD - Yes, I saw it. I also had the blog passed along to me. Sour taste in my mouth. Thank you for doing all of this.

Why would anyone do something like this? Why couldn't he have just told all of you that he needed to leave for a while and just said good bye...why hurt everyone like that?

Divinity - Yes...we mourn your loss.
But....wait.....does that mean I'm talking to a ghost?
