Brokeback Mountain...

I saw Brokeback Mountain last night, and I woke up with a black cloud over my head this morning...

Yes, it was a finely crafted film, but God I found it depressing.

42 years on from when the two characters met, I really doubt whether the attitude to gay people (or some gay people's attitudes to each other) have changed that much.

The fact that Hollywood's portrayal of a gay scenarios seem to only come under the banner of either "camp", "ironic" or "flawed" somewhat proves my point...

First of all, when was the last time you saw a mainstream film with a major gay theme, and if you have seen one, was it positive?

If there are apparently 1 in 10 gay people in the world (and who knows how many bisexuals), it would be good to see a stronger and more positive representation.

I guess you're right affbreak! Though it depends on your definition of "mainstream"!

It brings to mind all those porn take-offs of regular films... "Shaving Ryan's Privates" etc etc.
