"Clean & D/D Free"?

As I've been browsing this site, I've noticed a lot of profiles requesting people who are "clean or d/d free". So I'm just wondering how people know if someone is telling the truth about their sexual health. There was a documentary on recently about AIDS spreading thru the porn industry by a number individuals who continued to make videos with other partners even though they knew they were contaminated. This really sickened me. I know that it was their livelihood, and if they were to be honest, that would be the end of their career, but it's no excuse... that's about as bad a pre-meditated murder! And I guess that's what scares me about AdultFriendFinder... If someone wasn't disease free, would they be honest enough to tell other people if they knew it would make them undesirable?

You are right to be concerned. I have the exact same concern as you. I am disease free and met someone on AdultFriendFinder. After a few weeks of e-mails we decided to meet. Much to his credit he was honest and told me he had genital warts before we met (this info was not in his profile). He also was honest and told me that the spread of genital warts is NOT preventable with condom use. This caused me to re-evaluate my membership on this site. I realize that most people would not be honest about having an STD since it would make them undesirable. Or they might not even know they have an STD like genital warts, or might not know that an STD can be spread even with condom use.

It takes a person of high moral character to disclose they have an STD if it means they would become undesirable. I noticed that not many profiles state that the person has an STD. I know that statistically speaking this could not possibly be true.

So my suggestion is to be very, very cautious. Educate yourself well. Insist that the other person be tested for all STDs 6 months after their last relationship ended. Ask to see a copy of the test results. Educate yourself about how STDs are transmitted and which ones can be prevented with a condom and which ones cannot.
