Annoying people at work.

I work for a large financial services company. Let's just say--you would recognize the name. In short, I review all communications with the public (including advertising, direct mail, etc.)for the brokerage arm to ensure that we are complying with all applicable laws and regulations. Most of the time, I work directly with our marketing group, but there are always those brokers and bankers out in the field who like to do "their own thing". And typically, what gets submitted to me to review is embarrassing at best.

So, last week I got an invitation to a client appreciation event submitted to me. Basically, it was "big well-known financial services company" invites you, valued customer, to participate in an NRA sponsored pistol safety class "for ladies". Ohhhh HELL NO!!! Yes, I work in San Francisco and I could just see the protestors getting out their bullhorns and making signs about how "big financial services company" endorses the NRA and refers to women as "ladies" even! So, of course, the office that submitted the invitation decided to challenge me...refused to believe that putting something like that in writing was a potentially "explosive" statement. (Pardon the pun!)

Before I knew it....they had called my manager to bitch. The arguement was: I was only saying "no" because I'm from San Francisco. We all heard her laughter from down the hall...."She's from West Texas! She is probably a card carrying member of the NRA!"

Needless to say, the rogue office did not get their way. Hahahahaha!!

And ya know....the safety works much better when the firearm is loaded. LMFAO!!
