Too open-minded? .. they're all just things

Being too open is one of the many things I fear ...or perhaps more having too open of a mind is what I mean ...

From reading a lot of the blogs here, it's easy to come to believe that having an open mind can be a good thing ... when in reality it's more of just a thing...

On this I've spent more than a little thought ... and it seems to me that being "open-minded" means being able to accept things different from your point of view... which isn't a "bad" thing per se, until you get to the point where something that others may consider morally outrageous seems to be just as "good"/"bad" as something that is morally "acceptable" ... even then it's "bad" thing only if you see as so..

I guess another way of looking at it would be complete lack of judgment.

I guess an example would be a little kid calling another one fat, ugly or whatever... not particularly a "nice" or smart thing to do, but it may actually cause some good to come from it .. if someone is that open minded to see the multiple possiblities: Can they really say it's really the "correct" thing to do to stop the aggressor? ...I'd think not....

Then again I have difficulty seeing what is "right" or "wrong" at times ..sure some things are simple enough to figure out. example - Don't rob banks

I think perhaps I may have an fairly different experience in that I have been both, the aggressor and the victim and I've had both my "victim" status held against me by those who could/should have helped and my "aggressor status" condoned by those who could/should have stopped me ....toss in a lack of interaction growing up ...heck, I never even really knew anyone my own age even existed before I went to school for the first time ...and after that summers were usually the same kind of isolation...

I wonder if I'm making any sense here?

Either way I'm not so sure that being open minded is as great as everyone thinks it is ..after all to truly have the world be "real" the entire spectrum is needed ...no matter how "good" or "bad" they maybe because one can just as easily be the other....

...yup, a lonely road I think my feet will tread ...I can't say that I've ever found someone that enjoys having the contrary point to their stance brought up all (or nearly all) the time ... and for me that's pretty much what I am = a walking contradiction/paradox... and I enjoy it

There's a difference between being broadminded and being openminded; openminded makes me think that someone could have a candle to one ear and it be blown out through the other side. Broadminded means being able to see all the sides, but not necessarily agreeing with a view {just their 'right' to express it and so on}. I, personally, actually enjoy alternate and opposite views...got to have something to blog the 'segues'! And you made perfect sense to me...should I be worried...?
