Painting Pictures in the Mind's Eye

...I'm almost going to have a bit of a theme thing going here...

But any who, I'm going to share one of the images that my mind has conjured up ..and should anyone ever paint this image I'd very much like to see it..

Imagine a battlefield, perhaps a Medieval battlefield, strew with helmets, bodies and weapons, tattered banners standing - still fluttering in the breeze.... imagine smoke rising from the nearby village, where there is no movement ... only destruction.

Now imagine in this landscape stands a lone figure, an angel, poised ready to move - to strike if need be, clutching a sword in his right hand -ready to rise, yet point down, and in his left arm he holds a child -an infant- close to his chest, a wing wrapped around to cover and protect the child.

Imagine looking up at this angel's face, the anger, the determination, it makes you believe what his body and expression say - "No one shall harm this child while I live"

.....

That is one of the images that my mind has created and is most likely permanently seared into my memory....

are you the angel or the child?

initially I was thinking the angel ... but now I'm thinking perhaps both hiding part of myself away, while leaving a guardian to be seen..

That sound so... familar. I think there's a charcoal of something similar to that in the archives... somewhere...

somehow I wouldn't be overly surprised - though I don't recall ever seeing such a picture
