A tale written, a story almost not

Well, it took some work but I did finish the collaborative work I was blogging about earlier ... I knew the tale I wanted to tell, but was having difficulty with the words and fleshing the tale into a real story ...I was thinking I needed to continue with what there was, but I couldn't ...and then I realized I really can't anymore than someone could finish a painting the same way someone else started it. It's not really possible to recapture someone else's work becasue I'm not them ...then I realized I don't need to think like them I need to be me and bring what I am into the story ..once I realized that it became a rather simple thing to finish it off... granted I didn't end it the way I had thought ..but if I had I think it may have brought the story to more of a closure point ..where as where I did end it leaves it open to much, much more.
