So WHO Will Be Blogland's Satan?

Please see my previous post titled "Paradise Lost" for the complete cast of characters yet to come in this Blogland production.

MOOD: Devilish

In Milton's "Paradise Lost" there can be NO doubt that Satan is the main character, if only for his sheer PRESENCE throughout this 12 Book epic poem.

In Blogland, Satan is the guy who not only has a lot to SAY, but is also the guy people are always talking ABOUT. AND he has a lot of faithful followers, including Beezlebub, and the rest of the fallen angels. Hmmmm...

In "Paradise Lost", Satan is "long and large", "of monstrous size" and an arch-fiend who lay "stretched out huge in length." He is compared to a whale, with head exposed, but enormous body hidden beneath the water.

Ok...Satan is a BIG guy....I'll leave it to you to decide in what way Blogland's Satan is "huge."

In "Paradise Lost", while he lived in heaven, Satan was a "Prince" and "Chief" who fearlessly and courageously did battle with God. He and his cohorts NEARLY WON the war, until the angels fighting on GOD's side figured out how to disarm his clever cannon-like invention. He was then cast into Hell, along with his merry band of men, but was given dominion over Hell.

OK...in Blogland Satan is the guy who takes on the establishment. He is brave and fearless, taking on the MOST powerful of opponents. He is clever...probably defeats his enemies with in surprising ways. The man knows no fear. His opponents respect him enough to make him the leader of the Dark Force.

In any analysis of "Paradise Lost", there is great debate over whether Satan is the HERO of the story. Webster's defines HERO as: a legendary figure, often of divine descent and endowed with great strength or ability; shows great courage and is the central figure in an event; object of extreme admiration and devotion. I have always considered Satan the Hero in Milton's rendition of humanity's Fall From Grace. Most readers empathize with Satan, right up until the end, when he convinces Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit and starts the chain of events that gets humankind expelled from Paradise. But even then, some readers may scratch their heads and wonder, "Is this thing called Free Will really such a terrible fate to befall humanity?"

OK...In Blogland, Satan is the guy who just LOVES to tempt women into thinking for themselves. He may be perceived as "a little twisted" by the masses, but upon careful scrutiny, he is more like a "twisted hero."

SO...WHO will be Blogland's Satan? Please send me your nominations...

Satan is a female. She wants you to believe that Satan is really a male just to throw you off. She threatened to poke my eyes out with her pointy tail if I didn't have sex with her. {=}

Are you sure that Citizen wouldn't be willing to play your faithful side-kick Beezlebub? Two Satans might be problematic .... but I can give it a creative spin...

    I was already declared ruler over Blogland heaven..so I can't be in your play I reckon.
I don't know about that Ms. Huny. How about since we both know that God is a woman, I nominate you for the role of God?
