Poetry Time Again

copyright 2005 - Leroy Miller writing as Clameatingdog

Real men don't cry.
Real men must be strength,
Atlas with the world on his shoulders
Eternally silent with his load.
Men are in control and must be lest
The world come to an end.
Women admire them, children idolize,
And each a personal empire claims
Carved from the rock of resistant time.
Men keep their hurts with them,
Real men disdaining sympathy
Knowing hurt feelings are for children,
Broken hearts are for women,
Pain is the realm of the old and feeble.
Real men handle things with strength
In their own way ordained of old.
Real men don't beg, or submit.
And most of all they do not cry.
They handle things with manly strength
Pummeling with fists and words of stone.
Sometimes they kill to make an end.
And if all else fails they die;
It is the way learned and passed
By word of mouth from Father to son.
Big boys don't cry
