It is far too late for me to be up. But here I am. I am an insomniac; have been since I was 10.

Being a night person most of my life has given me a slightly different perspective on things. I see and appreciate the night sky more, for instance. I have seen comets, meteors, planets, the constellations, all phases of the moon (including an eclipse), and even a satellite or two. I am also aware of the animals of the night that live around us, and have even watched a fox come from the woods several times to scavenge the parking lot at 2 A.M.

I used to walk at night, but now I don't consider it safe any more, and well-meaning police sometimes hassle me. So I stay home. But sometimes I am out on the apartment landing at 2 or 3 A.m. smoking a cigarette in the night air and listening to the night birds and barking dogs. The night is beautiful to me, often a place and time of contemplation and meditation. The day's noise of human traffic is almost nonexistent, and the cricket sounds of the night fill my senses.

So I may go to bed shortly. But until I do, I will enjoy the night hours, my special time with myself. Then when I sleep, I shall most likely be at peace.

Clam - I like the blog.
I finally made it by to visit.... you seem to have had a blended year of victory and disappointment; I am both happy and sad for you.

You're a bright guy Clam.
I miss the 'meat' of your thoughts in your posts on-site...
I miss the intellectual sparring, and the thoughtful yet challenging posts. I hope you find a way back. -v

I wanted to write a personal note to you, Ok?

I am sorry for all the things that you are going through right now but if you leave AF F for good there will be a void for me here. You are one of the few that actually expresses himself in your blog without the fear of other's judging you. I for one find that rare and very honest.

Please keep your profile up and return when you can.

I understand that your personal affairs have to be looked after first and I wish you only the best in the future to come.

I understand that life has through you a couple of hard punches recently but know that you DO have friends here, ones that will miss your style.

If you would like to add me, I can be found on "Y" under the name open2friendships .

Take care of you! Babel *blowing your kisses*

Hey clam,

Just wanted to let you know that today I had a great day and I hope that you did too!

We have fixed a problem that was in our home for the past years that caused me to have to do a lot of work with mold removing off of a ceiling area that takes me every year about a month to finish due to the stress on the shoulders and arms. It is in a large unheated place, that is all that I can say here about it.

I also want you to know that I too have had my share of sh*t in my life and no one knows what the future holds for any of us.

I have been abused, hurt, used, tricked, taken for granted, lied to, cheated, physically hurt and this all boils down to, I did not stop. I have done my best and worked very hard to get to be the person that I am today. I do not think that I could be this person IF I did not have to struggle to become it.

Do I have faults? You bet your ass! Do I have things that not many close to me know? You bet your ass! Do I have regerts? Yes, I do but if I have not lead my life in the path that I walked would I be the person that I am today? NO.

Glad to see you back Clam....
what do think about a little mental sparring?
Pick a good topic, that isn't personal; and let's get some exercise. Always a good way to get the mental juices flowing, and to reconnect with some of the things that we do well.

See you around Clam - v

Hey Clam,
I am a fellow insomniac.......mine is cyclic, it has upswings and downswings. Right now it's in a bad place where sleep is as elusive as winning the lottery. If you ever see me online in the middle of the night, say hello....maybe we can trade jokes or something.
