Comment whoring

I occasionally take a look at the blogs belonging to visitors to my blog and join in if I've got anything to add.

One post caught my eye on "comment whoring" - I think it means choosing titles and content to get lots of views and comments added.

I'm not sure why I'd want to do that, but if it's worth dong then. looking at the stats on my blog, I certainly need some lessons.

If you're reading this, congratulate yourself on being part of a very elite, discerning group! lol The Aston Martin of blogs!

Hmmmm!

Last week I was on holiday in Egypt. Oddly enough, whike I was away, I was thinking about starting my own blog. I will be honest, this was due to the inspiration that you have given me. I found myself contemplating several topics to write about. Happy in my decisions I started thinking about a title for my blog and then a title for my entries. My first thought was "how do I make people want to read these?". I will tell you now, as a male member, not many people visit my profile, how will I get visibililty with out "Comment Whoring"?

I would love to share my thoughts, experiences and ideas but I fear that nobody would read them. How can I benefit from members comments if I get no visibility?

Col, first thanks - I don't think I've ever inspred anyone before. The point of blogging is that it's cathartic. If you speak your mind others will find you and make connections, join in, etc.

I do it because I want to be more than a piece of meat in my profile. I feel good about dumping my thoughts here and am sometimes encouraged by the responses. Although I was disappointed by the reaction to my sex worker post, thought it was the most profound piece I've written.

I'll visit and comment, so get on with it!

I will give it some more thought then. Problem is I have a lot of weight to get off my shoulders before I stop sounding like a whining fool.

My personal view, from recent experience, is that blogs are not just a personal learning experience and point of release but help others think about things that they may not have econsidered before. One of the reasons I continue to read your blog is that of relevance. We all have a lot going on in our lives but not many of us take the time to analyse it our share it with others and I thank you.
