I enjoy cooking and I pride myself on being a good cook.

I've been experimenting with Indian food for a while (from scratch, not with curry sauce from a jar!) and can now make some pretty decent curries but one of my favourite dishes - sag aloo - has always eluded me. I've tried a few times with various recipes but it's always turned out horrible.

Last night I made one more last-ditch attempt and I made it the way I thought it ought to go, not from a recipe. And it turned out absolutely delicious!

Lovely meal, with tandoori chicken, raita and a naan bread (I don't make my own bread, Lloyd Grossman does, but I made everything else).

What a shame there was no-one to share it with me I wouldn't do curry for a first date, mind you... who fancies Italian?

palak aloo is quite easy. A curry sounds good to me...
