this and that . . .

i just read someone's post, talking about how many emails she received in the first few weeks after joining our blogville community - all i know is that, in my early blogging career, i didn't receive any emails as a result of my blog! what was i doing wrong? (btw, i've since received a few - very few - emails from men who've read my blog posts)

i've wondered aloud - that is, by posts to my blog - about the relationship, if there is one, between the number of views of a particular post and the number of comments received. i still haven't figured this one out, but i do realize that when i post about the mundane parts of my life - how i spent my weekend, what good friends i have, etc - i get very few views and even fewer comments. but when i write a post about some serious subject, serious at least to/for me, lots of you read AND comment. i guess that means something, but i'm not exactly sure what.

there have been some weird goings-on in blogville, some sort of under-the-radar warfare, and just in the past day or two, some "outings" have occurred . . . i didn't understand it when it started, and i still have no clue what's going on with that. i guess i'll stay out of it ("better to say nothing and be thought a fool, than say something and confirm it" - with apologies to mark twain, or whoever first said this)

sometimes i wake up in the middle of the night, having had a wonderful idea for a post, then poof! the idea is gone come morning

ok, that's enough for now, thanks for reading! bye for now, cat

Oh I think that was my post -- I am just getting caught up on my comments! I got all those emails when I first joined A.F.F., very few of the emails I get are from guys who have read my blogs, they are mostly all from my profile, even now.
thanks for visiting my blog - and yours is one of the GREAT pics on this site! cat

Cat, I love your blog..I especially like the posts that give me a glimpse of who you are. I also haven't figured out what gets read and what doesn't....At any rate, it really doesn't matter for me. I write my blog for my growth and having others read it helps me keep real...I'm also finding that sometimes I write posts for people who stop by regularly...That's always fun...Kind of a secret between us...There's lots of reasons to write...I hope you keep it up.

Do what all good writers do, keep a note pad and pen on your bedside table. Ideas are more important than sleep. Enjoyed the paranoid tone of your blog. It suits the site. Peace.

Seems like most of the popular bloggers are paid members who have been around a long time and gotten to know a lot of people. If you watch the counter on the main page, it looks like there are about a thousand new blogs a day started. Guys don't get much mail from women.....wish we did but, with a ratio of about 12 women for each man here, emails are few and far between for most of us. I never knew it culd be a problem for women though.

i think i've mentioned this before, but i can send mail if i view a profile off a blog, but i can't wink at anyone! btw, i just tried to get to your profile so i could send you an email - after all, we should stick together - but the screen said your profile is turned off!
also, i've been both a paid member and a standard member, and it doesn't seem to affect my ability to blog . . . and i've gotten to know some way-cool people thru blogville.
thanks for the comment, cat

Blogville seems to mimic the real world...people hiding and throwing rockets around.

The "stepford bloggers" were interesting...posting lengthy news accoount of no value whatsoever.

I like the personal jouramsl..where people go from frustration with the sex lives into rants about whirlled peas.

I turned off my profile because I'm not too interested in meeting anybody other than through the blogs. This site is full of lurkers who are gay, lesbian and bisexual. To each their own but, I'm not interested in a same sex relationship. Possibly an M/F couple and even then I'd be very selective. It's like anabella says, put up a pic and some sexual innuendo in your profile and you'll get swamped with email. Hell, I'm a guy and I got mail when my profile was changed to "out" some lurkers.

fyi, i sent an email to a blogger friend, who i actually met quite a few months ago off-site, and asked him to bring his camera when he comes to tucson the next time. i think he's creative enough to find a pose for me that won't reveal my identity (for professional reasons, i can't show my *cute* face on this or any other singles site, so we'll see what happens once i have some sort of picture to post.
thanks for your interest in my blog, i'm having fun with it, and it's nice to know that people are reading my posts!
hope you're having sweet dreams tonight, cat

ps - i still haven't been able to sort out the lurkers, etc, from the straight members, but i've decided - who cares? in many cases, blog readers included, the more the merrier, i think!
