i can't fall asleep - again!

boy, i don't know what it is that keeps me awake, but here i am again, 1:30 am local time, and i'm back on my blog!
so many things are running thru my mind, so many unimportant little things that shouldn't be keeping me awake, but here i am . . . why?

what keeps you awake? are you productive at this time of night? are you alone, or with your pet (like i am), or with the person right for you, or with any person right now?

whatever your situation, i hope you're having sweet dreams - i'm gonna try again, see you tomorrow

God I hate that! I've been experiencing that
more often as I get older. So freaking tired,
just want to go to sleep, should be able to
sleep without a problem, but NO, just can't
fall asleep. When I finally do fall asleep,
it's just for a couple of hours before I have
to get up for work. Then it's a zombie like
day. Usually the next day I sleep pretty good.
Nice to know I'm not alone!

I have really bad sleeping habits. It started from working all different shifts to cover for insufficient staff at group homes. If I were still working there, I'd probably be getting calls right now over imaginary emergencies even when I'm off duty in the middle of the night. I miss it.

My mother taught me how to get to sleep. She was a nurse and someone must have told her this as a means of dealing with patients in the days before medication was so easily available. She told me to begin relaxing at the fingertips and toes and to work inwards.

Another trick I had was to go off in some flying machine/spacecraft - I have never got very far before I'm asleep.

I do sleep like a log once I'm off. I am prone these days to doze off on the settee, wake up in the small hours and then be unable to sleep again. I don't let that stress me. If it looks like I need to make any effort I'll get up and blog a little. Masturbation also can help, because in men there is a refractory period shortly afterwards. However, if you stay awake past that period it loses any sporific effect.

Interesting idea for a post.
