so my friend tell me last night he wants to be a zombie for tonight for a movie event and contest. like many things in my life, the obscurity was overwhelming. i did the fx and it looked great. but apparently it was too subtle. the contest was apparently judged by some people walking around through the crowd. since the makeup i did was on his back, through a ripped shirt, it was supposed to get to you after a couple of minutes. i mean, yeah he had "flesh" falling off his face and stuff too, but the multiple 8-12 inch gashes with raw edges on his back just didn't get noticed, by the judges or anyone else.
why is this relevant? because even when i try to make a point, it always gets misinterpreted. i would think it's just me, but if a bar full of people LOOKING for zombies can't see the one that is right in front of them... why should i expect anyone else to understand what i'm doing?
and damn, i still have gelatin flesh under my fingernails. i have a whole extra sheet of gel skin though, wish i had another makeup job to do.
