work - here's a new one

so i just had the weirdest question yet. and thanks to my sister for her tip on where to get dry ice. turns out the only grocery store around that carries it is kroger. and yes, i called that specific location to make sure they have it in stock.

and i got her directions to the kroger and then back to the fedex kinko's along with hours and phone numbers. i checked to make sure that fedex location sells packaging materials. and i suggested she buy some inexpensive leather gardening gloves at kroger or at the big lots across the street from the fedex location. she's never handled dry ice before. i gave her a short tutorial on the properties of dry ice and how exactly it is dangerous if allowed direct contact with skin. (see, i knew working with dave smith in high school would come in handy. i burned myself when dry ice got in my gloves during dracula)

i tried calling the fedex dangerous goods hotline but they are only open business hours central time (so i bet they are in the memphis hub)

anyone want to guess why a woman needs dry ice and federal express on her lunch break tomorrow that's important enough to tip me $20 for helping her plan out her lunchtime errands?

Wow a grocery store actually carries that stuff?

I use to play with that stuff when I worked at Disney. At Halloween I use it in a little cauldron at one of the locations I was working and tried to sell it to the guests as a toxic brew. The only time I hated the stuff was when I worked at the Magic Kingdom and they used powdered dry ice in the ice cream carts. They put 6 inches of that stuff on top of the ice cream bars and I had to try and dig through it. It was painful.

I have no clue what she might be using it for but she could be making homemade fireworks without the fire.

The last thing I got packed in dry ice was dead Buffalo steaks many moons ago so I'm guessing some sort of meat product or...

Something...uhh... eewwy? LOL
