actually, then i just got irate and sent this:
"once again... you just don't get it do you?
i know, you're just doing your job and responding with the appropriate consumer friendly form letter.
but not all of your members WANT to have linked sites. many of us find it remarkabley inconvenient. i'm still less than thrilled with the fact that i can google my AdultFriendFinder handle and i get links to my profile as boing listed on passion.com, let alone what appears to be a lesbian dating site in the UK. exactly what purpose does that serve besides inflating membership numbers? it's certainly not going to do ME personally any good.
actually i have seen several magazine posting on this subject. the users of the various sites are quite disconcerted by the site linking and several members have told mentioned that they intended to cancel their memberships due to these changes.
exactly when will someone in whichever department handles this realize that you are actually driving members away and killing your own profits?
really, have someone go read what your users actually have to say on this topic. run a survey or something.
but good timing, thanks. i was about to actually upgrade to a silver membership and now i've been conveniently reminded how bad of an idea that is.
i like most of the site's features and have made some good friends this way and referred a few others, but it's turning out to be quite a hassle to actually have any fun any more"
