"Irregular, rapid beating of the atrial chambers characterizes Atrial Fibrillation. This happens when the normal system that conducts electricity in the atria malfunctions. A storm of electrical activity across both atria causes them to fibrillate 300 to 600 times per minute.
The ventricles pick up only a small number of these impulses, but the ventricular rate can approach 180 or higher. Whether Atrial Fibrillation happens at high or low heart rates, its irregular rhythm means the ventricles can't pump blood efficiently to the rest of the body. Instead, blood pools in the heart and the body doesn't get enough."
this morning my sister contacted me while i was on my way to work. my mother was in the ER.
later she was admitted to the hospital because she wasn't responding to the medication
finally she stabilized and they allowed her some food. unfortunately it was hospital food. luckily the hospital is literally next door to her favorite deli and my dad smuggled in a reuben.
and i don't care what anyone says about the fat content of the roast beef and a bland diet to reduce stress. my mom is a foodie and boring food is just going to piss her off and make her stress levels rise.
she still wants to go on the trip she was supposed to leave for today and the trip to the galapagos next month.
the doctor says no. i can't wait to see where this goes

She may raise the strees levels of the doc and put him in the bed beside hers. lol Seriously, hope she does well and is home soon, kid. Later
