Observations of my state...

I've spent the last 3 years of my life living outside of Nashville. A small town with little need for change and a familiar comfort. A town that hasn't realized the benefits and pitfalls of becoming a major city. Being from Los Angeles originally, I have loved and hated this town for the past 3 years. It has become my refuge and my enemy. A place I can hide from the world, yet feel trapped-all at the same time. To find the humor in this situation, here are 10 things I have observed about Tennessee in the last 3 years..

10. It doesn't matter if you are a size 18, the men will still love ya here. They tend to believe your extra meat, means you'll cook some extra meat.

9. No matter how bad your dental work, it can't be worse than the rednecks who don't visit the dentist more than once a decade.

8. All grammar rules go out the window here. Y'all, done did that and I reckon will instantly become your new way of speaking.

7. To call yourself a true Tennessean, you must have something of value in your yard, an extra car, an abandoned schoolbus or even a washing machine.

6. Your aunt could possibly be your cousin.

5. We have an ice hockey team but most people around here have only played horseshoes at family barbeques. Hockey confuses them.

4. Football is not a sport here, it is a religion. Therefore, instead of church for some, it's the TV on Sundays and a 40 oz. Go Titans!

3. It takes two hours to get anywhere here, even the corner store.

2. Country music plays non-stop at any restaurant, fast food chain, bar, club or parade. If that's not enough, just turn on a car radio.

1. A junk sale is like a Wal-mart. Always low prices, pushy people and there's one on every corner.

So why do I live here? Where else can you find cheap rent, beautiful trees, friendly people and an endless supply of beer??? oh yeah, Kentucky....

Disclaimer: This is not meant to offend anyone, it is merely meant to entertain. If I didn't love Tennessee, I wouldn't still be here.

Beautiful. hahaha.. I loved it. Perhaps I should try to do one on Chicago. Should be interesting, but might have to go to 20 instead of 10.

I'd love to see one on Chicago..it will give me a warning for when I do visit since I have never been. Glad you liked it!

Jez, thanks for visiting my little blog. I am working on trying to make it interesting. I didn't know you were from these parts. If you ever find yourself here again, make sure you let me know!

i grew up in missouri. i so miss the colors of the leaves in the midwest. everything out here is green. it's pretty, but it does get old, especially if you know what you're missing.

Yeah tires, I miss the city sometimes but I would choose the peace of the country over it anyday. I certainly don't miss the LA traffic!
