I just watched the movie "27 Dresses". Very sweet romantic comedy. The plot predictable. Girl with flaws but lots of charm meets guy with flaws yet charming. The have friction from the get go. Yet strangely fascinated with one another. They start to grow on one another, they have a conflict, they have sex, they have a major conflict and a few weeks later realize they are in love. This plot has been used over and over by Hollywood. Disney bashed us girls over the head with fairy tales. The lie they told us; Love always prevails. Bull! Love never prevails. Moral issues get in the way. Responsibilities, fear, life in general. It is a rare occasion that the love illusion works. I realize this sounds cynical. Yeah it is. I have spent most of my life playing it safe. Did what I was told or what was right. Lately I have been questioning. I am sure we all go through this. I ask myself many questions: Why am I here? Why do I stay? What am I doing for me? What do I want in my life? What do I want from my life? Where do I see myself in 10 years? What will I do for me? Some will say it is selfish to ask these questions. Woman have many roles. We are given conflicting roles. Mother first. No, put yourself first. No your job is first. No your spouse is first. No you home is first. Calgon take me away! LOL Because I can tell you, Prince Charming is a myth and he sure in hell is not going to rescue anyone. He is too busy taking care of himself.

I was in my office this morning, texting my cousin. She had asked me a question via text that would require a lengthy answer. I text her that I would call her from my office phone. I pick up the phone on my desk and dial my cousins number (from phone book in cell). "We're sorry your call can not go through as dialed." I try again. "We're sorry your call can not go through as dialed." I look at my cousins number again in my phone and try again. "We're sorry your call can not go through as dialed." I stare at the number, reciting it in my head. Thats when the bulb over my head pops on....She lives in a prefix that requires you dial the area code. Same area code as mine but because of her prefix, land lines consider it long distance. DUH! It had been so long since I used a land line for something other than local calls, I forgot how. I had to dial it two more times before I realized I needed to dial #1 first! Is it Monday?
It was beautiful last night. Today, it has wreaked havoc on my emotions. I have had the highest joy and the lowest sadness. Not a good day to make any decisions. Maybe tomorrow.

My youngest daughter (age eight) just came in to give me an update on the house painting...She says we should paint the house in rainbow stripes or all yellow inside and out and that we all have to wear yellow all the time. That wasn't the best part, No, as she was walking away she says, "Thats why I am the idea maker. I think this stuff up. You all have to do it." No she is not self-possessed, conceited, or manipulative...LOL
This past week in South East Kansas, it rained. A lot. So much so, we have had moderate flooding. I live between two rivers. The both went over the banks. It rained four days here. We got lucky with Ike. He hit land and took off for points North and East. I have heard of the damage he wrought elsewhere. I am sorry for all the folks having to deal with Ike. At the same time, I am glad he passed us by. We were already in a flood stage. Had Ike come our way, we would have had huge flooding issues. Today the Sun is out! The skies are blue, wind out of the North. Everyone is out working on their yards and outside chores. We have a week of sunny days ahead of us so far. We need it. So for those in my area, enjoy your nice day and hopefully week. For those dealing with the remains of Ike...Godspeed, my friends.
BERLIN (Reuters) - Police closed down a Berlin sweet shop after discovering the owner was selling chocolates and lollipops laced with hallucinogenic mushrooms and marijuana.
The 23-year old owner of the shop in the trendy east Berlin district of Prenzlauer Berg, an area known for its vibrant night life, was taken into custody on suspicion of drug-dealing.
"In the shop we found 120 pieces of magic mushroom chocolate and countless cannabis lollipops," said police, who confiscated around 70 sachets containing various drugs, about 20 marijuana joints, a range of pills and some jars of drug-laced honey.
Police said one customer, who appeared intoxicated, was arrested after trying to buy a bag of hallucinogenic mushrooms from an officer in the shop

I am listening to a local easy listening station here in the office. Josh Groban is currently on, Micheal Buble' was on earlier. Both wonderful vocal talents. Groban invokes visions of Phantom of the Opera. He has that musical stage kind of voice. Micheal Buble' makes me think of Frank Sinatra. I enjoy the soft sensual crooning of both. Where am I going with this? You know they were nerds in High School. The guys who were in band, theater, boys choir. Is it me or are nerds really taking over? Personally, I am attracted to the nerds. Almost always, I will pick the brainiac in the room over the muscle bound jock. Now, before you all get up in arms, Jocks have minds too. I know. I just prefer the meek milder Clark Kent types.
