Oh Boy!

Well my friends, yesterday was not a good day for the Candy girl! I called out of work coz I was experiencing pain along with several other symptoms that got me a bit scared. Went to see the doctor, but saw the PA who is maybe better than the doc! He examined me, and said he'd like me to go to the ER!!!! I asked "worse case scenario?" and his answer was "spinal meningitis"

TALK ABOUT SCARING THE SHIT OUT OF SOMEONE!!!

He didn't even want me to drive, but I refused to be taken out by rescue...they would have taken me to the wrong hospital.

So I assured hin I was OK to drive home, and would have my daughter take me to the hospital. After all, I DID drive there, didn't I?

Once in the car, I called home, but she wasn't in. Or wasn't answering. She does that a lot. So I called hubby's work and left a message for him to call me back ASAP. He left work early and met me at home, and off to the ER we went. That was about 12:45.

At the hospital, I was brought in to an isolation room and they drew some blood and started an IV. Then off for a CAT scan, which wasn't as bad as I'd thought they were. They gave me some tylenol through the IV, but it still didn't touch the pain in my head, neck and back. So when the doc came in and told me all the tests were normal, after my veryverylarge sigh of relief, asked how the pain was. I told him the tylenol didn't touch it. He asked if he could "knock me for a loop" and I said to do what he needed to do in order to take this pain away!!!

So in comes the nurse again, and shoots me with Dilaudid and Decadron IV. After the initial rush, oooohhhhh baby did I feel good! The pain went away, and I actually slept a bit! They discharged me about 4:30.

We got maybe a mile from the hospital when I told hubby, "I'm gonna try real hard not to barf in your car!" He pulled to the side of the road, and I opened the door and leaned over....I won't get any more descriptive than that, but I'm sure you know what happened. Well, we made it home. I kept a plastic bucket next to me the rest of the evening, which unfortunately I used quite often!

This morning I took the two pills he perscribed. Cyclobenzaprine for the muscle spasms and Oxycodone for the pain. Took them about 6AM. Went back to bed and SLEPT! Woke up at 4:30. No, I'm not kidding you! I slept the whole day away! Man oh Man those drugs kicked me in the butt! So now I know not to take them together! Just took the Oxy and will take the Cyclo tonight going to bed. Maybe that way they won't knock me out again!

So friends, that was my exciting few days. Just thankful it wasn't meningitis!

Kisses & Hugs,
Candy

WOW Candy!!

That is indeed one hell of a scare!! That could have been mean shit!!

Not that a herniated disk is any walk in the park!!!

I hope they can help relieve the pressure! I have known several people with disk issues that they have performed miracles on!!

Good luck Candy!!!

Hope you feel better soon!!

(still have my fingers and toes and eyes crossed for ya!! LO

Damn...are you ok?, Candy... So, was it just from the herniated disc? I know, I have one too...lower back, right side...but that steroid injection I got back in mid March helped a lot for me...all though it's starting to wear off and I probably ought to go and get another one.

I'm glad it wasn't Meningitis...and I hope you can get it taken care of soon. I wonder if stress or anxiety from the promotion interview had anything to do with making it flare up?

I hope not... get better soon and holler at me when you have a chance and when your feeling better.
Love ya!! {=}... Kisses & Hugs,Slide

Jeeze, what a day! Poor thing, I am glad that it wasn't any worse for you.

Meningitis is a killer. It killed my 12 year old sister back in 75.

I was just gonna ask what the source of the pain was. I can sympathize. I too suffer from a herniated disc. Only mine is in my lower back and affects my sciatic nerve when it flairs. I'll take that over yours any day. Radiating pain around the neck and head - no fun!

Feel better quick! You need to be 100% for the new job!!!

Ah, Its you again, Your Angel Feathers and your Blood Stains...
