My Story, condensed version

I was over to fantasylover_05's blog, and he posted a condensed version of his life story, go read [post 453036]. My buddy R wanted to know more about each of his friends, so I'm posting this here for everyone to read.

I was born in Providence RI, lived in only two houses before I got married at the tender age of 20 to my first boyfriend. We were married 7 1/2 years before I realized I had to get out of the marriage before he killed me in a drunken rage. So I changed the locks and got a restraining order against him and never looked back. I took away a whole lot of wisdom and two absolutely beautiful children.

I married current hubby a year later. Back then, I didn't have any self-confidence, and didn't believe I could make it on my own. So I went from being dependant on my parents, to hubby #1, then directly to hubby #2. In the 30 years since I left my parents' house, I've only lived in three...no, now it's four....different places. I hate to move, it's too much work and not enough gratification!

Now as far as work is concerned, in that part of my life I'm a vagabond! I started working at 14 as a nurse's aide in a Providence hospital. THat's where I met #1. I went to Nursing School right outta high school, but didn't graduate. See, even back then I had a smart mouth, and Dad used to get my blood boiling! One night I got too smart with him, and he kicked me out. So I moved in with #1 and his parents, we were engaged at that time, and had to quit school coz I couldn't afford it.

I worked as a unit secretary for a few years, but that was boring. Then a job opened up in the Operating Room, as an OR Tech. I applied, and got the job. Gawd, I loved that job! Ya never knew what was gonna come in the door. Kids, I've sen it all....from gun shot wounds, to car accidents, to foreign objects in delicate places (come on, you KNOW what I'm talking about!) to delivering babies. The problem was, with two little kids and newly separated, what would I do with them when I was on call? So I had to quit that job so as not to endanger the kiddies.

I did day care out of my house. I worked in the local milk store. I worked in the local drug store. I even worked at Mickey-D's! Then I found a job as a bank teller, and discovered that I really liked this line of work. I was promoted quickly, from a temp to full time, to senior teller. I was the one in charge of the branch cash flows.

Then my family was in a car accident. We got hit head-on by a drunk driver. I had to have reconstructive surgery to repair the damage to my face. Coz I wasn't there a year, there was no long term disability (this was before Clinton passed FMLA) so I lost that job. I worked for the state university for a few years, then back to another bank. Went to work for a large insurance company, which was the stepping stone to my current position with a nationwide brokerage/401(k) company. I simply adore this position, and am veryveryfortunate to have landed here.

I prolly forgot a few jobs, but you get the jist....I am unsettled when it comes to my work....at least up until now.

I have three children. My son is in post-grad school and will be a college professor someday. My eldest daughter is following in my footsteps in a sense, and is working for the same insurance company I once did. She's getting married in nine days to a great guy who adores her. My baby is married with a baby of her own. My granddaughter just turned one, and is the light of my life.

I moved out of my house in June, after 21 years of marriage, and am living by myself in a very nice apartment.
I finally love myself, and I love my life!

Sorry if this was too long, but I've got a lot to tell, ya know?

So, are you gonna tell me something about yourself now?

Kisses & Hugs

hi very nice writing. I am Al a 51 divorced gentleman and enjoyed reading your article and history very much. You sound like in the right relationship you would be a very enjoyable companion. I think it is most important to be happy with yourself before you can be happy with anyone. You do sound very nice and when you mentioned a o.r.tech, I was once a o.r.tech also, it struck a good memorie, thanks............................Al
