Global warming?

The hysteria surrounding this topic continues to amaze me. Thirty years ago there were many people who were convinced that a new ice age was coming.

Last night I watched a program on the History channel called the little ice age. It was about the climatic changes that occurred from 1300 to the late 1800's. The temperature dropped 4 to 6 degrees in that span and for seventy years between 1645 and 1715 it plummeted another 3 degrees (it actually snowed in June in new england area of the United States in 1816) and scientists are still trying to figure out what caused this.

I learned in science class that here in Michigan there was at one time a tropical climate, also that during the ice age that glaciers created the Great Lakes.

The point I am trying to make is that there is much to learn before we can confirm or deny if there is global warming that is detrimental to planet. Scientists say that since the 1850's (when accurate weather data first started to be kept) the average yearly temperature has increased by only 2 degrees, which means that the yearly average is still 2 to 4 degrees lower that during the 1200's.
