The meaning of love....

This is for lovers everywhere.
I offer no explanation.
Apply your own interpretation.

My interpretation makes me want to cry...especially the line I have highlighted in red.....

What is your life with me?
I hope it is all you believed it would be.
And I try so hard to love you the way
Your mother would have wanted you to be loved.

And I do love you.
But I need to be needed too.

I'll be here when it's cold and dark.
I'll be waiting to be your Joan of Arc.
I'll do anything to be your rock.
To be with you in the rain.
And I know that it's hard to ask.
It'd be like coming home at last.
I could feel you love me just as much
If you let me share your pain.

I'll never know the truth.
It seems I'm always last to know
What you've been going through.
And I'll follow you to be close to you
Even though you try to shut me right out.
But I still love you.

I'll be here when it's cold and dark.
I'll be waiting to be your Joan of Arc.
I'll do anything to be your rock.
To be with you in the rain.
And I know that it's hard to ask.
It'll be like coming home at last.
I could feel you love me just as much
If you let me share your pain.

I'll be with you in the rain.

I think I need to clarify something here.

The beautiful words above are not mine, and I'm sorry if I gave the impression that they are.

They are the lyrics to a song called "Joan of Arc" by the wonderfully talented and much-and-sadly-overlooked Judie Tzuke.

If you would like to hear the song (and believe me, the combination of music and lyrics will melt your heart), check out the album "Under the Angels".

All of Judie's albums are only available via her website. I'm not sure if AdultFriendFinder will let me publish a web address, so just do a Google search on Judie Tzuke and I'm sure you'll find it!

Let me tell you all a story....

Like a lot of callow youths (!), I was a big Judie Tzuke fan in the late 70s/early 80s. In common with 95% of the late-teenage male population of the time, I had on my wall a Kate Bush poster, a Judie poster and that poster with the girl tennis player scratching her arse.

JT did albums through until about 1984 - and then vanished. Like an old oak table.....

It turns out that three things happened:

1. She had terrible contractual problems with her record label (owned by Elton John) and legal wranglings effectively shut her down.

2. She had children.

3. Nothwithstanding 1 and 2, she developed chronic stage fright, and couldn't have performed anyway.

And then in 1998, I was reading my local paper (at the time) and there....an advert for Judie Tzuke LIVE at my local music hall!!

Wow! This'll be great!!! A night of nostalgia....SWMTD...For You....Welcome to the Cruise....Sportscar....

So. I'm sitting in said music hall waiting for the diva to appear. On stage comes a young band...none of the musicians are over 25...and I'm starting to think... are there TWO Judie Tzukes??? And then a blond...ahem....barrel comes on stage (Shit!!! There ARE two Judie Tzukes!!! One inside the other, like Russian dolls!)

And they start to play....NOTHING old. EVERYTHING new. And I thought:

This is fuckin' BRILLIANT!

No resting on laurels. No easy life. No wheeling out the oldies. No musical in-jokes with her old band. She's taking a risk. New. Fresh. Mature, but exciting at the same time. She's enjoying herself and it's infectious.

And her voice. Cover me in eggs and flour and bake me for forty minutes! Perfect. Three times better than it was in the 80s...and supported by better material and better musicians!

Since that day in 1998, I've seen her twice in Bilston, twice in Birmingham and once in Worcester. She has never failed to entice... to enthrall.. to delight. She hasn't toured since I last saw her in 2004, and the omens are not good that she ever will again. And that's because....

Did you know????

She is the writing force and production force behind Lucie Silvas and Alex Parks??? She is focussing much more of her time now on writing and producing for other people you see.....

I can't recommend her too you all highly enough. Get on her website and order some of the albums and listen to one of the great under-rated songstresses of English music.

I rest my case, m'lud.
