Books I Read

In lieu if not doing anything more productive (as in, say, GETTING LAID), I tend to read. A LOT. Mostly non-fiction material, which led to one girl I dated to call me "a weirdo." Heh. Anyway, here's some of what I've been reading as of late:

DisneyWar by James B. Stewart. Basically covers Michael Eisner's entire tenure at the Disney Company, and how we went from an imaginative (if arrogant) CEO to one who desired more and more power as time went on, to the point that he fired anyone (Jeffrey Katzenberg, Michael Ovitz) he viewed as a threat. If you like reading about boardroom politics and the nastier side of business, this is your book.

Landslide by Doyle McManus. More political scheming, this time covering Ronald Reagan's second term as U.S. President (1985-89). Ever since the man died, Reagan's been getting a free pass by the media. This read will make you think twice.

ESPN: The Uncensored History by Michael Freedman. The story of how ESPN rose to power, and the results that came from it. Lots of abuse of power, sexual harrasment, and Keith Olbermann griping.

L.A. is the Capital of Kansas by Richard Meltzer. Jaded rock critic moves from N.Y. to L.A., and discovers it's worse than he thinks. Fascinating, but his cutesy style of writing gets old real fast.

Interracial Dating Book for Black Women Who Want to Date White Men by Adam White. Where are these women? And where can I get one?

And who says no one reads anymore?

"Today may be the first day of the rest of your life, unless you live on the other side of the International Date Line, then yesterday was the first day of the rest of your life."- Larry Andersen

Someone recently suggested Freakeconmics to me. Unusual points that make sense. Guess that makes me a freak. From a fellow reading, non productive AdultFriendFinder member.

I've been recommended Freakanomics too... has anyone read it, and if you have, may I borrow it?
