Behold, The Powers of THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS!

OK, after last night's extremely melancholic blog, I needed a little cheering up. Now, I'm a nerd. A very sexy and sexual nerd, but a nerd nevertheless. And there is a band in the land that nerds and even some non-nerds tend to gravitate towards when they like their rock with intelligence, dry humor, and a splash of accordion. If the title didn't clue you in, well then allow me to introduce my band when I'm down that picks me up... the Twin Quazars of Rock...

THEY!
MIGHT!
BE!
GIANTS!

(Hopefully, there will be an icon of their logo on here. If not... blame my shitty computer, I guess.)

So I'm throwing a little party here. And I've got invitations going to PassionKisses4Me, Divinitydesires, PrincessKarma, oldman1776, PurryKitty2 & mzhunyhole. (Now that I learned how to link, there may be no going back. I'm going to ABUSE this one, I can feel it.) And I'm going to let John and John chase my blues away...

"Purple Toupee"
"Hey Mr. DJ, I Thought You Said We Have A Deal"
"Cyclops Rock"
"Alienation's For The Rich"
"Ana Ng"
"Why Does The Sun Shine? (The Sun Is A Mass Of Incandescent Gas)"
"Istanbul Not Constantinople"
"Birdhouse In Your Soul"
"Sapphire Bullets Of Pure Love" (for the slow jammer in all of us...)
"The Statue Got Me High"
"Put Your Hand Inside The Puppet Head"
"Hide Away Folk Family"

... and MORE!

It's a party at The Big & Tall Palace! And I can't stop dancing!

SOMEONE SLAP ME!

Yeah, Particle Man and "Birdhouse in Your Soul" are my favourites, followed by "Istanbul not Constantinople". I found out about them from a friend of ours who gave us compolation tapes of his favorite music. Just feel in love with these songs. A pity they haven't had more exposure. I have their album "Flood". Particle and Birdhouse just cheer me up so much. Don't know why and don't consider myself to be much of a nerd.

It's probably better they haven't had more exposure. I always wondered what would have happened had they blown up and gotten big back in '89 or '90 (people forget now, but MTV used to play the hell out of their videos); ultimately, I think it's better they didn't. However, if they ever had a chart-ready pop song in the works, it was "Another First Kiss" from Mink Car, yet they never released it as a single. "Boss of Me" was their big hit from recent years; it did chart (barely) and they won a Grammy for it.

Whoa... Passion and Princess... together... sharing ME... oh my... I'm getting dizzy... the room is spinning...HOLD ME!

Anyway, yes, TMBG did the Courage the Cowardly Dog theme. They also did the Higglytown Heroes theme and the theme for one of the Discovery Channel hospital shows; the song is called "Am I Awake?" And of course, Malcolm in the Middle's theme, which won them their Grammy.

And their music was in the movies Ed and his Dead Mother, Chuck & Buck, Haiku Tunnel (actually, it was in the trailer, but close enough), and their own documentary, Gigantic.

And one of their videos was in the background during an episode of Half & Half.

Isn't it sad that I know all of this crap off the top of my head?
