Journey to a Healthier ME!

Last night was the first meeting of the new weight loss group I have joined.

I was nervous and almost backed out of going. Then I remembered my Dr.'s warning about my blood pressure and made myself go.

I'm glad I made the committment. I need the weekly accountability that this group provides. I know I have a long rode ahead, but I lost almost 100 pounds back in the early 90's, so I know it can be done. I already know that I will never be a small woman..or a thin one...but I can be heathier.

I intend to keep a journal of my journey and share my thoughts with others if they want to read them. I hope I can be an encouragement to someone and in return they can be one to me.

Tonight was my first test. Dinner at my parents house with my daughter. Mom as usual outdid herself, she made the hashbrown casserole my daughter absolutely loves, peach cobbler and fried apples pies!!! I groaned when I looked at the table. I resisted temptation though, I ate chicken, green beans and coleslaw. I left the table at dessert time.

My goal is to take this journey one day, one meal, and one temptation at a time.

End of Day One

Welcome to Blog Land, hope you'll have fun.

And good luck on the weight loss thing. Having the accountability you're talking about is important to many

Day Two

I read the advice on the Empowering BBW discussion board about exercise today and decided that was a major "step" I needed to take also.

I used to walk 3-5 miles a day! Now I walk up and down the stairs to do laundry and clean house..that's the extent of my exercise. There is a place close to my home that I can walk, I have it marked off in quarter mile increments.. I used to walk this course 8 times in the morning and usually 12 in the I got halfway around it and had to walk back home...but you know what???? At least I made the effort and tomorrow I will go farther!

Hubby and I grilled tonight, DELICIOUS! Grilled lean pork chops and grilled veggies...mmmmm!
For lunch I had a large salad filled with all the veggies I could have freely and not have to count so much. Skipped the crackers and cheese.
For breakfast the menu was an omelette made with peppers and onions, mushrooms, one egg and two egg whites. Skipped the toast on this meal too.
Now I am about to settle down to a snack of 94% Fat Free microwave popcorn ( I CAN HAVE 5 cups of this stuff and I LOVE IT!) lol

Tummy has growled some today but I made sure I kept busy and ignored it most of the time. I also purchased myself an ice tea maker from Wally World and I am no longer buying Diet Pepsi. Has anyone heard the nasty rumor that drinking diet drinks actually INCREASE your appetite?? It's iced tea for us from now on. I purchased some green tea, spiced tea, and many different flavors today.

I did drink more water today than normal. Stayed in the bathroom a lot more as a

I feel very optomistic! Thank you for your post Goddess!!!! Hugs!

I hope everyone feels free to reading the comments, it does help!

congratulations on the walk. It's hard getting back into those kinds of things when you've been out of them for a while.

One more day conquered, hope your hubby supports you all the way. Don't skip too many of the things you're allowed to eat, those will come back to haunt you later when you are having a really bad day. You don't need to starve yourself, keep it healthy.

~hugz~ and all the best for day three ...

Day Three....

Been under the weather a bit today, sinus, yuck!

Bowl of cereal for breakfast, veggie soup for lunch and a salad with grilled chicken for dinner. Jello for a snack. Must make a note to have jello ready at all times for the "trigger" times.

I do hope I have lost when I go back on Thursday. It used to be easier to lose weight when I was the pounds stick like glue!

I went upstairs and looked at my clothes I used to wear when I was working and healthy. I had nice ones....but I am going to bag them up tomorrow and visit Goodwill. I don't need reminders of the past cluttering my mind and defeating me. Whenever I look at them now I just remember gaining it all back. It's discouraging a bit to have to do this journey again....but I can do it.

Berrigal2 Yes you can do it.

But only if you set your mind to it and do it for yourself. It's a good thing to get rid of those old reminders, because when you are ready to fit into the size you want again it will be a thrill to go out and buy some nice new things. You've worked hard for them, you deserve them.

Hope all will go well with those walks and keep your chin up.

Day Four I missed posting about...but it was good! I have not gotten on the scales this week for fear it would hamper my progress. I have decided to only weigh at the meetings.

I am excited about tomorrow night, that's my second meeting. This week has gone better because of the encourgement, support, and good advice I have gotten through the AdultFriendFinder emails and posts. I love my BLOG!!!

I think I am going to have to learn how to use it to its full potential however....any suggestions? Do I post comments or how do I do it so that it shows up everyday like eveyone else's does?

I will have to read the instructions

I added cilantro and parsley to my salad last night and WOW, the tastes buds stood up and took notice. I also learned how to make a PIZZA that I could have. I took Low Carb Flat Bread, spread it with Carb Control meat sauce from Ragu, added green peppers, olives, onions, mushrooms and small amount of cheese. Baked it and dived in head first!! OMG!! I think I can survive now that I know how to make a delicious pizza!!

I sell Tupperware and have been making the salsa I make at parties, its delicious and so much better than store bought.Has lime juice, cilantro and chipolte seasoning...yummmmmmm!!!

I can't wait to post tomorrow night! I will have my weight loss for the week!!!

berrigal, don't add your new days as comments but add them as posts (when in the blog section you have the 'add a post' option in between view my blog and edit settings).

That way each day is a new post and everyone can post their comments under your posts.

If you need more information: we have a group called bloggers of this friendly site... there's information to be found in there.

And should you need more help just holler

Good luck on the meeting tomorrow. Good decision about the scales

Good luck with all the new steps you are taking: diet, exercise and blogging. I should follow your example and do better on the first two... but that would mean less time for the third. Life is an interesting balance. Good luck and welcome to virtual convention.
