Okay so it is Valentine's Day.

Okay so it is Valentine's Day! Wohoo!

For this post you have to imagine the Greek Dad in my fat Greek wedding. (Yes I have Greek descent and had to endure the lectures on Greek heritage. Allow me to roll my eyes like Tula did in the movie).

In English there is only one word for love. We use the same word for loving chocolate chip icecream as we do for our partner. But not so in the Greek language. The Greeks instead distinguished the three distinct forms of love.

The first is Eros. Now this is the root of Erotic, and should stir images of smoldering kisses, moist pulsing sexes, and erogenous zones that are flushed. Typically the most superficial type of love.

The next is Agape. This is the most idealistic type of love of the three. You know Princess Bride (Yes I know I talk about this movie a lot. But damn it is a kiss ass film about love.) When Wesley talks about true love. Yeah this is it. Agape can literally be translated as unconditional love, or love that knows no boundaries. So an example would be, and this is really odd, but a Jewish Holocaust victim saying that they loved the German people. Their proclamation of love is sincere, is evident in actions, and in many ways incomprehensible by any one else.

Finally the last is Philia. This word means Brotherly love. But I guess on a more basic level this word is a family type of love. Where you care and support each other because you care for each members growth and well being.

In many ways this site has a mixture of all these types of love. I am aware that this site is predominately about the hot skin and passion. But I am grateful on this day of love for the other types of love in my life; specifically the Philia type affection I receive from you all. And yes the flirting is very nice and welcome too. Thank you. lol

Thus on this day when I am single while others are romantically involved; I find myself celebrating and being truly happy. It is great to be loved and to love, and love doesn't need to be the movie kind.

To leave a question: What type of love do you feel you share most on this site? Yes I know a very intimate question.

Dear Saddle, Oh cyber chocolates, flowers and hugs. Yummy. Thank you so much for sharing warm family support and erotic teasings. Very beautiful and welcome.

Thank you very much Huny. You are such a dear sweet friend. I appreciate your affection and Valentine wishes.

Lioness, you are very blessed in having that one person that you share the erotic joining with. I hope the passion is supported with other comforting and warm things. And thank you for your friendship. You are a dear and committed friend.

Well Papyrina,

From my understanding the phonetics for philia were not bad but the other words are how the English spell them.

Awsome to hear that you love chocolates I hope you enjoy them much this year. And I agree with you that this site has some wonderful opportunties to develope great friendships.

Thank you for kisses, and I believe the word would be andra mou. I definately am a man not a boy.

And yeah my greek definately needs work.
