My Homework

My Homework

Modern poetry begins with Charles Baudelaire (1821-67), who employed his unequaled technical mastery to create the shadowy, desperately dramatic urban landscape -- populated by the addicted and the damned -- which so compellingly mirrors our modern condition. Deeply though darkly spiritual, titanic in the changes he wrought, Baudelaire looms over all the work, great and small, created in his wake.

I offer this poem in hopefully Baudelaire-esque form for you.

Striking and exotic, yet an innocence pleads.
Swirling around me, threatening to clutch,
Perverse obscurities drives me to my knees
My very soul floundering at her touch

Yet, I beckon her to come closer still,
For I am longing the scent of her breast.
The breath from her moist lips shall envelope me
in loves twisted and tangled caress.

Turned in to her own foolish pride, so,
wickedly, devilishly, stained.
her needs, no one is attending to
and her passion needs room to grow.

What demons are haunting and hunting her,
I can't quite fathom this abyss,
yet ready I stand to dive into her soul
a metamorphosis for all thats amiss.

Starved for love, her unrestrained passion,
threatens to purge all in unholy fire.
Yet, I am strong enough to endure
The burns as I requite her desire.

Bardic...

"My very soul floundering at her touch"...sets the tone of the whole poem...very nice...

I want to thank you for turning me to Charles Baudelaire...truly a person ahead of his time...

from his Flowers of Evil

If and poison, dagger and burning,
Have still not embroidered their pleasant designs
On the banal canvas of our pitiable destinies,
It's because our souls, alas, are not bold enough!

one can feel the emotions flowing with these words...just what poetry is suppose to do....awaken all the senses!!

Thanks again and keep writing in your own expressive style...

Loves

Whatever you write touches, moves, inspires someone, somewhere, somehow. And not always the same way.

Beautiful... and excellent choice, too. Baudelaire and Rimbaud, s'il te plait. I'm looking for them in French (hard to find here), I love the imagery and need the language pratice.

Nice job Bard ... and on this Friday in particular << National BLAME BARD DAY! >>
(Perhaps he knew you'd get all the ladies attentions?)

Now that you got 'em ... don't go screwing it up reciting limericks about Nantucket!
